+ I do like how much integrity Bailong has and that he is just as invested and passionate about cooking as Ji-young. I would love if they are given a scene where they can cook together.
+ Feixiu took all of Ji-young's secret/main ingredient but I think the biggest issue here is that because Ji-young was away from the palace she didn't know it was gone until the competition had already started thus forcing her to pivot to a new dish at the last moment. She should get points for how good her pivot was!
+ Bailong went hard on Feixiu and I felt bad for her but also not that much. She is clearly an excellent chef but she also absolutely acted maliciously and what she did was stealing, even if it was all legitimate.
+ All I can think is that, at this point in time, the only source of the chili peppers is Heon's greenhouse. So regardless of the new dish Feixiu created they have no way to get more.
+ I love Man-soo mentoring Gil-geum and how he used her to get out of the bind Mok-ju put him in.
+ I loved Heon and the envoy sharing a moment of joy over Ji-young's peking duck before hurriedly looking away, ha.
Episode 9
+ I loved Heon's offence that the envoy would dare bring shame to a cooking competition in his palace by not evaluating the dishes honestly. Also I just love that Heon always judges a dish fairly. If it's good then it's good, and he's always appreciative of good food.
+ The envoy really could have made it slightly less noticeable that he was tanking the other score. One? Dude, come on everyone saw you having raptures over that dish minutes ago! That said, you'd think they would have considered this when setting up the judging.
+ Ji-young and Bailong's mutual respect for each other is great. I've enjoyed their interactions a lot.
+ Heon headutting the envoy for asking for Ji-young as a tribute was so ridiculous. Why a headbutt??? How is that in any way dignified? That is the actions of a five year old lol.
+ Maybe I'm missing points of power here but I found it strange that the envoy's guards were allowed to rush in with swords drawn in the presence of the king. That he assumed he could just order his armed men to take Ji-young in the presence of the king.
+ I love that Gil-geum, Bong-shik and Man-soo jumping in front of Ji-young to protect her from the men armed with swords.
+ Inju coming in to save the day was great.
+ I wonder if the show is actually going to have Ji-young change the past? Actually I wonder if she's ever going to actively try to change history.
+ I'm a little disappointed with Mok-ju. This latest move was pretty good but she hasn't had as big a role as I was expecting.
