Covert Affairs Season 2 Thoughts

I was all set to start the new season of Covert Affairs when I realised that I hadn't actually finished last season. So I marathoned through what I missed over the last couple days.
+ I know that Annie and Eyal will never happen as a romantic pairing in any serious or long-term way but that doesn't stop me from wishing for it anyway. 2x13 was my favourite episode. I think their chemistry is smoking and I love everything about their relationship.
+ I don't really like where the show went with Jai. I liked the character in the first season but I'm not very fond of the manipulative game playing version in season 2. I think I could like him as an antagonist but I found most of his latter season two scenes boring unfortunately.
In 2x13 Jai lead a team to back up Annie and even though he ended up not doing much, rescue-wise, it reminded me of how much more I liked him as a field agent instead of a manager. And how much I enjoyed him with Annie - they had a little moment at the end of the episode that I really liked. It was them being friends, and him having her back (covering for Eyal for her), and just them being friendly. I like that Jai.
If the show continues with antagonist manager Jai I hope that, on top of it becoming more interesting somehow, the show intersperses it with Jai/Annie scenes or gives him some field work because that's when I enjoy him most. Mainly I want his scenes to stop boring me.
+ I don't know that I entirely buy Annie suddenly realising that she may have feelings for Auggie after one remark by Danielle. It just seemed a little sudden. I mean I knew the show would go there but I was expecting it to have a slower build up. Until that moment all I saw between Annie and Auggie was a very close friendship and the complete trust they had in each other. Also I admit I was kind of expecting Auggie to realise his feelings first.
+ I was glad that Auggie proved not to be a good candidate for the experimental treatment for blindness. I was completely expecting him to, and to get his eyesight back eventually, and it's just so predictable.
+ All I have to say about Annie finally starting to use a gun is - it's about freaking time. It was far too ridiculous that a field agent, who regularly ends up fighting with 'bad guys', wouldn't have a gun. Situations like in 2x13 where she went after Eyal and the assassin without grabbing a gun first made her look a bit dumb. I don't need for her to be killing people every episode but she should be armed.
