Nikita 1x14 Thoughts

I enjoyed the episode but I’ve come to a conclusion – I love Nikita and Alex and I like watching them interact and kicking ass but I just don’t find the show’s attempts at romance very convincing.
• Michael, who is the most important male in both their lives, vacillates for me between being convincing and not working for me (with both of them). I feel like Michael has gotten invested in Alex really fast though I try and keep in mind that he reacts to her with his past with Nikita behind everything. I do like the Nikita/Michael that we’ve gotten but the spectre of LFN’s Nikita/Michael is still hovering around and I don’t find them anywhere near as intense and connected.
- Nathan/Alex I don’t really have an opinion on (he seems sweet I suppose but I’m hoping he’s a plant) and Alex/Thom worked far better as friends than anything more.
- I do like Nikita/Owen quite a bit, their relationship is intriguing and I want more.
- But Nikita/Ryan is – not. Is he the “all American hero” love interest the network forced the show to add? I like him fine as an ally, or even as a friend but I’m not quite sold on their interactions. I mean I buy him liking her and I guess I can see her desperately wanting to make a connection again (outside Alex) but... eh. I think a huge problem for me is how much information she tells him and how quickly. In this episode when they learned about Voss Nikita tells Ryan “I slept with him” which left me going ‘...um’ Why wouldn’t she have just said “He was an op when I worked for Division”? I don’t understand why she always shares way too much information with Ryan. I mean she’s supposed to be very guarded but with him she keeps telling him more than she needs to and it kind of feels OOC to me. Which, okay, is kind of ridiculous but I just don’t understand why she’s so open with him. It annoys me.
• The opening scene with Nikita and Alex was great and Alex giving her a Valentine’s present made me go ‘aww’ but I want more face to face interactions and them going on ops together.
• Nathan’s “Sounds like Batman” about Michael made me giggle and Michael’s expression was perfect.
• Alex was very pretty this episode.
