Revenge 2x05 Thoughts

• The best part of the episode for me was by far the last Emily/Amily scene. It was excellent and everything I've been wanting for them.
I've been really worried about the Carl lie. I was expecting it to come out, via someone other than Emily, and for it to finally destroy any bond or loyalty Amily fills for Emily. I was really not looking forward to it. So the show surprised me in such an amazing way by dealing with it this way.
Emily telling Amily herself - and not as part of some scheme or to manipulate her - and at the same time sincerely apologising to her about doing it was so unexpected. I think there was some self-interest in her saying it was because she felt the need to keep Amily on her side since it was also partly out of jealousy over Jack but I understand why she left that out.
But that apology was so sincere which was wonderful and I loved Amily apologising in turn over pursuing Jack even though she knew Emily had feelings for him. This was the most honest and sincere these two have ever been to each other and I really think it spells the beginning of a true partnership between the two and perhaps even a friendship.
Now Amily can still turn on Emily but at the moment I don't see it happening. Emily could continue to not care about Amily, or start manipulating/using her again, which I think is certainly more likely but at this point I think these two have turned a corner. The only other person that Emily has been this open with has been Nolan and I think whether Emily wants it or acknowledges it Amily is starting to mean more now. The possibility is there.
I realise I'm probably getting my hopes up. The amount of times that Amily has already almost died makes it seem likelier and likelier that one day it'll stick. And Emily has a huge wall around her. But I want Amily to be Emily's left-hand (to Nolan's right-hand) so much and I never thought it would happen and it's never been more possibly than it is now so I can't help but get excited.
- Beyond that all the Emily/Amily stuff was great. They make an excellent team. I loved all of their silent communication.
• I really liked Emily's apology to Nolan (again completely sincere). I also liked her worry for him at the end.
• All the Kara stuff was actually pretty good especially the Emily/Kara(/Amily) scenes. The last Emily/Kara one was nice.
• I enjoyed Mason being back as well. His sniping and snarking is fun.
• I also liked that when Emily was sadly watching the new Porter family it was made explicitly about her own past family situation and not about her feelings for Jack.
