Meh.

• I'm not super happy what the show is doing with Elena as a vampire? I get that what happened at the Murder House wasn't horrible because the experience of eating people was horrible but because it was great and she enjoyed it. She had fun. That is not how Elena sees herself nor is it who she wants to be as a person. Plus I'm sure the spectre of Katherine, and the need to not be her, is always hovering at the forefront of Elena's mind. I understand all that and I find it believable. But how it's portrayed is leaving me very - meh. I didn't like her last scene with Stefan and I don't know something is just not working for me.

• I really don't understand why Caroline can't teach Elena. In fact all this episode did was convince me that that is exactly what needs to happen. Elena's line at the beginning that Caroline has too much control (and thus can't understand) isn't a good enough reason against it.

First, Caroline does know what it's like to lose control - and she has a body count to prove it.

Second, Elena's teacher having self-control is a good thing. This is why Stefan can't be her teacher. Also Elena actually seems to have pretty amazing control already so this doesn't really work as an excuse.

Third, I think a big issue here is that Elena loves feeding, is ashamed about that, and doesn't want Caroline to know. Not knowing that Caroline in turn also loves feeding! So basically Elena and Caroline need to have a sleepover and freaking talk to each other. Yeesh.

Caroline is the perfect person to teach Elena and I'm annoyed with the show's half-hearted attempt to explain away why she's not being Elena's yoda.

• I don't understand why after the reveal of what the weapon was Klaus only dangled the possibility of Elena turning human. There was no implication that the weapon could only work on a limited number of people or only certain people. It would have made far more sense for Klaus to also tempt Stefan with the possibility that he could be human as well. That he and Elena could be human together. The possibility that vampires could be human is huge and I hate it being completely narrowed down to being about Elena for Stefan.

Even during his talk with Rebekah later in the episode Stefan was "if I could be with Elena I would take the Cure' and I realise that he was manipulating her but it still bugged me. Hopefully we'll get to see later Stefan considering what this could mean for him. If it's something he'd want for himself (duh), or say Caroline. Or, hey, perhaps he could consider Damon, and how he would feel about it?

• I am super, super annoyed that the show had Elena bump into Roofie Guy causing him to drop his drink and not the girl who's drink he roofied. Which is what I was expecting. Instead Elena lets the poor girl wander off with a roofied drink. In a frat party. Such a small detail - and so easy to instead have Elena bump into the girl, give the girl her drink, and lure the guy off - and yet something that makes such a big difference. Fail show.

• Rebekah's life is horrible. Klaus does not deserve her love and loyalty, and does anyone get daggered more often than her? I really felt sorry for her.

• I'm hoping that:

a) Stefan didn't Compel Jeremy and they're working together
b) there's a woman behind Professor Shane's plans. Because there is almost always a female character in charge if you look far enough behind the scenes and I see no reason for the show to stop doing that now.
