Once Upon a Time 2x09

• I love Aurora and Mulan heading off on their own adventure to find Phillip's soul.
• I really liked Emma's little existential crisis and I'm excited to see where the show goes with Emma's powers.
• Still shipping Emma/Hook. This episode did nothing to dissuade me from them as a potential couple. I like them antagonistic.
• I like that the show does give answer to hanging questions. It bugged me in the last episode that Hook was able to take Aurora's heart even though up until this point he had shown no ability to use magic. Learning that Regina had spelled his hook was great. I also liked getting an answer for why some of the Enchanted Forest was left when the Curse was enacted (Cora protecting herself).
• Queen Regina's goodbye to her mother was really unexpected to me. That is not how I would have expected her to react and it's making me re-think how I see her actions. Specifically her overwhelming hatred for Snow - displacement of her rage/hatred for her mother on Snow because a part of her can't bear to feel that for Cora?
• Was this the first time that Henry has called Emma 'mom' (to her face)? It really stuck out to me and I can't recall any other instance.
• I really liked the Emma/Regina exchange at the well. Does this mean that Emma's renewed anger at Regina from the last episode (when she decided that Regina was to blame for everything) has been dropped?
• I don't really have a problem with everyone leaving at the end and not inviting Regina. Regina has done a lot of horrible things to them and her doing one thing to help doesn't make everything better now. They don't like or trust her and I can't blame them for that. Frankly them ignoring Regina is probably the best she can expect right now.
That said I did feel really sad for her when Henry just ran off and she was left alone (with Rumpelstiltskin whispering poison in her ear). It is horrible to watch her trying to do the right thing and trying to love Henry and still seeing her worst fear (losing Henry) happening.
I find myself worried a bit now that this is going to leave Regina open to be manipulated by her mother and cause her to relapse into evil. Still if she does it will be a choice Regina makes, and not the fault of everyone else for not forgiving her/being nice to her.
• Henry leaving Regina and with only a casual "see you later" felt a little ... weird. I had to remind myself that he's 11, and Emma has been missing for a while, and he hated Regina for all of season one, and that she did try and make him think he was crazy (believing in fairy tales) and basically that he has reasons for acting like he does. The rebuilding of the Henry/Regina relationship is a slow work-in-progress that's only really just begun and they have actually come a long way. I loved him hugging her, for example. I actually love the slow way the show is dealing with their relationship and I hope in the later half of the season we get to see a lot more of it along with learning more about their relationship before Emma's arrival.
• I wonder if Regina absorbing all that magic is going to effect her somehow? You'd think it would have some effect.
