I really enjoyed this.

- It was interesting that those in charge chose to make our main characters so unlikable at the start - from robbing Sam at knifepoint and then killing the alien just because. And after that I wasn't certain I would be able to like them because they literally hunted down and killed the alien for no reason other than that it was there (well, pride for Moses). They didn't even know what it was. It could have been a dog or a cat. They didn't really care. It made them immediately unlikeable for me.

But then over the course of the movie you get to know them more and Moses in particular ends up going through this wonderful growth. This growth is because of two things mainly:

1) Moses has to contend with the fact that because he killed the alien for no reason he's putting everyone in danger, that he got numerous people killed including his friends.

2) Sam refuses to excuse to robbery. There is a lot of staring down happening between them as Sam refuses to be cowed or grateful.

Action have consequences and Moses is forced to deal with that. And he does. By the end of the movie he returns Sam's ring, he risks his life to defeat the aliens, and more importantly afterward he goes down to meet the police and accept his punishment. That was huge. He could have run, like he did through out the movie, or he could have hid or even stayed where he was. But instead he went down and accepted the consequences.

- Another change is definitely in how he perceives the... 'thug' life. At the beginning he is very much into it and proving himself - in change of his gang of friends, robbing people, attacking unknown creatures to save face, and when Hi-Hatz brings him into the big leagues he's proud and pleased about it.

Except then his friends start dying, and he gets to see the ugliness of that life when Hi-Hatz pulls a gun on him and then hunts him down, and then there is Sam. Moses 'apologises' at one point in the film to Sam by saying that he didn't know that she was from the neighbourhood. Which she rightly calls him out for. He's forced to face a person he robbed as a person - he sees her fear of him, her anger towards him up close, gets to know her as a person.

- Also I found myself shipping Moses/Sam. I couldn't help it. They are so intense with each other! I loved that they each same each other at different times. I was with Sam when he told her that he was 15 - I thought he was older! I figured the guys were around 17/18.

- So much love for the fact that Sam didn't let the boys off the hook for robbing her. She refuses to let it go, refuses to just forgive and forget even after they saved her from the aliens, and every time someone brings up them being heroes she shoots them down. It was awesome.

- The aliens were excellent. Quite different then the usual and in a really good way. Visually they were lovely to look at and the black + glowing teeth was pretty scary.

- I didn't have any real problems following the dialogue which I was a little afraid of based on the trailer. I did have a little trouble with some of the slang but nothing that affected my enjoyment of the movie.

- I loved Tia and Dimples taking out one of the aliens, and Tia saving Moses by attacking one with her lamp.

- I do wonder if Brewis was right about the whole mating thing because if he was why were the male aliens attacking everything with the pheromone?

- I was really impressed with the casting. Especially Moses and Sam which made me really surprised when I learned that this was his first acting job.

- The only death that really made me sad was Jerome who seemed really sweet. I did shake my head a bit at it though - why the heck didn't he stay closer to the others?
