Episode 4

This show continues to hit my squick but I now like Sun Hee, Jae Bin and Sun Hee/Jae Bin a lot more. Her make-over was pretty impressive and I loved his reaction when he first saw her. I also liked his trick in buying her clothes and I find his constant refrain of “you’re fired (if you don’t do as I say)” kind of cute actually.

“Mom, in a woman’s life marriage is more important than studying.” I’m really surprised to hear Ji Min say something like that considering everything that she’s see and overheard happening to her mother lately. I mean just that night (... I think?) she heard her grandmother throw her mother’s lack of formal education in her face and use it to blame her mother for what happened and call her stupid. Considering that her mom did just want she’s advocating – marriage over studying – and how it’s turned out with her husband running off and leaving them broke and homeless I really wouldn’t think that would be a path she would think is superior. On the other hand her following lines imply that Sun Hee did study so I don’t know. I do love every time she calls out her dad’s behaviour as being horrible.

• The whole dinner party was clearly a bad idea and made me wince and fast-forward a lot. I did like that for the short time they were talking Na Yoon wasn’t being slyly bitchy to Sun Hee they were just talking. I also liked Jae Bin standing up for her even if I did find Jung Suk asking the guest of a guest, regardless of her occupation, to help clean up right in the middle of the party completely ridiculous, gauche and just unbelievable. So – contrived basically. Especially when she brought Yoo Shik to apologise as well when it was all her fault.

Episode 5

• This episode did a lot more to win me over to shipping Jae Bin/Sun Hee (which is good since they’re going to end the series a couple). At the beginning, specifically when they were walking home, I was liking Sun Hee/Dong Hwa a lot more but towards the end of the episode we really got to see more of Jae Bin than his obnoxious spoiled jerk side. I loved his smile when Sun Hee got so involved in the game as well as his reactions to Sun Hee’s bruises and that her money request was so she could find her husband. We get the ass again with the video at the end but then he realises that it wasn’t a joke and once again we get to see the compassionate serious guy – and I like him. I was pretty surprised by the kiss though.

“Treat her with respect from now on. It’s not good for Hoon if he sees you treating her like that.” I really liked this line. I like that Dong Hwa thinks it’s important to teach Hoon to respect woman.

• I’m pretty intrigued about what is going on between Na Joon, Jae Bin and Dong Hwa. I still haven’t managed to figure it out. I did like the moment when Na Joon was looking at the picture of young Hoon, I assume, and how vulnerable she was.

Episode 6

• I find the way that the show has Sun Hee continuing to be devoted and caring about her husband, regardless of whether he deserves it, really interesting. Despite all the indications that he was a bad, or at least very absent, husband before the series she does care about him and their marriage. When she sees him at the end of the episode she is genuinely happy – she throws herself into his arms with a joy that’s clearly not faked.

• Jae Bin thinking it was her birthday and taking her to the rink (high school memories) and then to a fancy dinner with cake where he serenades her was pretty wonderful. It was very sweet of him. But I knew it was going to turn out to be her anniversary. I love his expressions and how... moved he is with her. When she confesses that it’s her anniversary and she’s never celebrated it before (and always cries on that day) and then when Sun Hee calls ‘honey!’ and throws herself into her husband’s arms his expression made me want to hug him. Aw, Jae Bin. He is so gone over her.

• I love that Na Joon continues to be friendly towards Sun Hee instead of the bitchiness I keep expecting. I really, really want that to continue.
