Haven 3x04 Thoughts

• Once again it's someone other than Audrey helping the Troubled of the episode. Considering how much they are hitting on Audrey as protector of the Troubled, and how determined she is to help them, I don't think we've ever seen so little of her actually doing it.
3x01 has her failing to get through to the guy and Nathan ended up convincing him to disappear himself. 3x02 has Claire figuring out the issue with the Troubled and how to help him and while Audrey did help it was mainly in encouraging. 3x03 has Duke killing a Trouble though it was at Audrey's instigation and in this one Duke saves a Troubled. This really bothered me in the previous episode but after four in a row it has to be on purpose right?
• I loved seeing the three of them working as a team again.
• It feels like I'm constantly thinking "Nathan stop being an asshole to Duke" this season. That said the Nathan/Duke back-and-forth this ep was amusing.
• I can't believe that Nathan actually pulled his gun! And looked as if he was seriously going to shoot Duke. WTF? Why the hell is he so gung-ho about killing Duke this season?! Not trusting him doesn't really explain it. Duke has in fact done nothing to encourage this much distrust and dislike. I don't understand it.
• "Nathan I don't think this is about you not trusting me. I think you're pissed that Audrey does." - Duke I think Nathan nailed it on the head here but still not a reasonable explanation for Nathan's behaviour.
• I wish during Audrey/Duke's final scene that she had said straight out - "I trust you/believe in you" - because she does, we've seen. All episode she has defended Duke to Nathan and standing on that cliff she held Nathan back from shooting because of her trust in him. But then during this conversation she has such a hard time meeting his eyes. She's constantly looking away. At first I wondered if a part of her did distrust him a little at the end but now I wonder if it's more shame for how she used him and didn't trust him enough to lay out her plan in the last episode? At the beginning she tells Claire that she did what she had to even if it wasn't fair and I can see her behaviour being out of shame for her treatment of him more than I can over distrusting him.
• I kind of like now that Audrey isn't getting involved in the Nathan/Duke tension this season. It bothered me at first, I would have expected her to defend Duke, maybe confront Nathan on his attitude but I like that she's letting them handle their relationship themselves. It's between them, they're adults, she's not going to play peacemaker. She does stand up for Duke with Nathan in private, she redirects Nathan's ire so she doesn't do entirely nothing but mostly she's leaving it between them.
• I like that most of Claire and Audrey's conversation this episode was about Audrey and her past lives and less about Audrey's romantic life.
• Wait, so Audrey is pushing Nathan away to protect him (because of the fate of the Colorado Kid) and not because of the fact that she's going to disappear in a couple weeks (and is trying to protect him by causing distance between them)? How is that different from his attempts to protect her?
• I loved the little moment during Audrey's questioning of Harry where she's being all soft with him until gets confirmation that he isn't Troubled and then immediate has a change of voice when she says "okay". It amused me.
• Interesting on Nathan distinguishing between 'them' owing Duke and just Audrey owing Duke. Because she didn't let him in on her plan? It clearly stills smarts considering his passive-aggressiveness earlier - "I'm guessing that he's still pissed about Harry Nix. That you didn't trust him enough to tell him what was going on." - yeah, that was about Duke.
Though actually if anyone owes Duke it's all of Harry Nix's children that he saved.
• I quite enjoyed Audrey basically ignoring Nathan while she made sure that Duke was okay.
• Nathan using touch against Jordan, to get in good with her, is interesting because he more than anyone knows how important touch is, how the loss of it affects someone.
• Hmm, so Jordan and Nathan's Troubles seem to mesh really well. Really the only person better suited, on that level, for both of them is Audrey.
• I'm glad that Audrey wanted to tell Duke about the tattoo and that she told Nathan about Duke killing Harry Nix if only because it shows that they are all still communicating. I like that secrets don't stay secrets long between them.
• Duke had a number of good lines. My favourite two:
Harris: ...and pretend this never happened.
Duke: It's the Haven way.
"I am so enjoying how unhappy he is." - Duke.
• So I can't remember what is going on with the tattoo so maybe I missed something but why don't the tattoo'd people, who work for the Troubled, want Audrey, the protector of the Troubled, to know about them?
