I really liked this episode.
• I knew it would be Lexie. Of course, she'd most want to remain herself.
• "So you go find the kids, I will get her to calm down, we will find Audrey and we'll all live happ... (Duke and Nathan stare at each other) You know what I mean." - Duke ♥ He means he ships OT3 as well!
• Duke/Nathan this season continue to be great. I love them. Especially Duke and his love for Nathan. Duke handling Nathan on the Jennifer situation was excellent. Duke's attempts to help Nathan at the end - trying to come up with a plan, attacking the Guard guy, basically just refusing to accept Nathan dumb self-sacrificing plan until... he did. Just like with Audrey last season he does everything he can to help but in the end he lets people make their own choices. Because he's awesome. Then there was his heartbroken expression during the entire Nathan/Lexie scene. Oh, Duke.
We didn't get as much on Nathan's part but we did get Nathan's complete trust in Duke, which is huge after last season and especially considering it's trust over helping Audrey, and then at the end when he looks at Duke after telling Lexie that killing him was the only way.
• I loved Duke's plan to distract Jennifer so she could hear the barn - yoga, hanging upside down, quarters - basically just hanging around. It was a great idea. Also he figured out where the door was on their side. Basically Duke was amazing and completely made of win this episode.
• I found Duke/Jennifer pretty cute especially during the yoga scene. Her being hot for his bod and then trying and failing at handstands really worked for me. I think it's because it wasn't some big moment of UST between them.
• Nathan really needs some therapy. Like a lot. He is so consumed with guilt over the deaths caused since the barn disappeared, so wrapped up in torturing himself over making the wrong choice, that he is really not thinking clearly at all. Case in point: I can't believe that Nathan actually thought his 'plan' would work. I mean if it had been Audrey - handing her the gun, holding the gun to his chest, kissing her goodbye and telling her it was the only way - there is no way Audrey would have shot him. None.
Then there is how much he has made Audrey everything in his life. He says "I need her" and it kind of feels less like love and more like obsession. As if it's not so much about Audrey the person, his partner and friend, but Audrey as a symbol. I don't know. It's interesting how this season has been so over the top with Nathan's feelings for Audrey and so quiet about Duke's and it's Duke's that feel more real to me.
• I liked that Jordan was clearly upset at the end.
• "You always have friends. It's part of who you are." - William
• There were so many interesting hints at the mythology of this show, more than there have ever been. The barn was made specifically for Audrey. Cool. The barn is a "space between two worlds"... is this an alternate dimension type situation? Between life/afterlife? Between Earth and some alien world? All of them could be really interesting. Plus I hope we get to see or learn more about the 'between' places.
Also interesting - William doesn't appear to be a new Avatar to the barn like I originally thought. Could he be the Avatar to her new barn (or just another one)? Or is he just a person (alien/supernatural being)? He tells her that he's "only allowed to help" her - who's giving him orders?
Certainly Dave's non-revelation at the end that they would be "unleashing powers far beyond our control" probably has something to do with the other world. The door is opened between the barn and Earth - and perhaps now between earth and that other world?
- I wonder if the Troubles are from the other world?
• The fact that there is a connection between Audrey and Jennifer was never more obvious and I feel like it has to be more than just that Jennifer has a Trouble. I wonder if she's the same as Audrey? If she comes from the same place.
• Chalk another one up for Nathan helping a Troubled person. It was nice to hear Nathan talk about James because that has been one aspect of everything that hasn't really been explored. I want more of that.
