Lay Me Down

I didn't like this episode for the most part.

I Liked

"Because you didn't have a problem with Sarah." - Audrey. I loved Audrey calling Nathan on that because it certainly bugs me. I also really loved that when he started in on how hard it's been for him she immediately cut him off at the knees about it.

• Jennifer's adoption being arranged by Agent Howard has me very interested. I still lean towards her being the same as Audrey and perhaps her replacement. I think that could be a very neat direction to take it.Or - could she be Lucy's daughter? I'm not sure about the dates.

• Nathan's dream. I loved it. It was really fun and frankly the most likable Nathan was the entire episode. Also his reaction when he woke up - lol. Too bad Duke didn't get a similar type of dream because I would have been fascinated to see what he came up with.

• Duke making Nathan’s coffee lukewarm and Nathan thanking him. Aww.

• Carrie. I liked how matter-of-fact she was about her family's Trouble and how wryly accepting of it she was, which is not something we've seen much of from the Troubled. I liked how kind she was to Jennifer. I loved her determination to not let more people die, even if it meant facing her worst fear and potentially dying herself, and how nicely it worked as a comparison to Wade. I wouldn't mind her sticking around.

• It was nice to see Audrey helping a Troubled. (Successfully and by herself.)

• I liked Audrey claiming Sarah as a part of herself which I don't think she ever has before. I wonder if her remembering being Lexie is changing how she views her previous lives.

• That Gloria appears to have figured out that Lexie is still Audrey and is mostly amused by their attempts to keep it under wraps and not at all interested in getting involved. I stil love her.

I Didn't Like

• Duke deciding to not tell Audrey and Nathan about everything that happened with Wade - covering up not only Wade's death but also Jordan and the other two Troubled Wade killed, and his own cured Trouble - because he's afraid that they won't understand and will turn on him? What? That is so stupid! It didn't feel organic at all to who the characters are now. So contrived.

• Why the hell weren't Audrey and Duke more interested or worried about what was going on with Wade and Duke? Wade tried to murder someone in front of them and they don't even bother to check up on how Duke is 'handling it'? WTF?

"Too much has happened, Nathan. We can't be Audrey and Nathan. Not anymore. We work together. That's it." ...What?? Okay, I could go with the beginning of this because a lot has happened. Most importantly Audrey is also Lexie, whom Nathan weirdly hates, and even if Lexie feels mostly like a dream that has to affect Audrey. But what was up with the last two lines? We had Audrey confessing her love in the last episode! So like two days ago! And now she thinks they should just be partners? Actually not even partners but co-workers. Why the turn around? Then they turn her around again when she decides to have sex with Nathan after he returns and says he loves her and doesn't care who she is. But, but, but - she just said they can't be 'Audrey and Nathan' anymore!

"I'm not gonna apologize for what happened. You have no idea how hard this has been for me." - Nathan. Well fuck you too, Nathan. I am so over his angsty me-me-me stuff this season. Sure, it's been hard for him but it's been hard for everyone.

• Audrey/Nathan finally getting together - or at least Nathan saying he doesn't care who she is and then they have sex - was so... disappointing. I did not find it romantic for one thing. For another It felt unearned. They've been building them as a couple for 4 years and that is what we get? I'm having Bones flashbacks to Brennen/Booth. I'm having a problem especially with Nathan's assertion that he 'doesn't care' who she is, even taking the best interpretation of that to mean he loves her no matter who she is, because I don't buy it. He's spent the entire time she's been back hating Lexie, including this episode, and we never really get to see him accept her. So how am I supposed to believe that he suddenly doesn't care now?

Also "I don't care who you are. Or what you are." is not actually not that romantic of a thing to say. We were supposed to take it that way but it could so easily be taken in a less good way. Especially considering that Nathan can only feel Audrey's touch. They have a solid base of friendship/partnership and I believe he does love her but that fact is always there in the background. When you add Jordan into the situation and her reactions to only being able to touch Nathan and him breaking up with her it adds this kind of - creepy undertone to the Nathan/Audrey as True Love thing.

• I don't understand Wade's motivation at the end. I agree with Jennifer that Wade 'wanted it to end like that' but what I can't understand is why? The previous scene with him had him completely unrepentant about what he was doing and nothing happened between then and him charging Duke that would imply he'd changed his mind. It didn't make sense to me.

• I wish they had filmed the Wade/Duke showdown differently. That Wade had the knife, that they fought over it and it was an accident when Duke stabbed him. Or if they wanted to go a darker way, Duke consciously choosing to kill Wade. Instead we get Wade running into Duke's knife. It didn't work for me.

• I really wish there had been more involved in Audrey's helping Carrie. It felt too simple.

• Why the heck wasn't the Guard up in arms more considering three of their members were missing and one was dead within two days? Why wasn't their leader Vince more distracted by that?
