iariaWow. It’s been so long since I watched an episode of this series.
Episode 8
• Mae Ri getting her scar from Jung In when he tripped down the stairs with her at her mother’s funeral was rather... anticlimactic. I was expecting something a little more interesting or epic. I thought for sure that it would have something to do with Jung In’s scar and her mother’s death so it was disappointing to discover how it really happened. How the heck did it end up scarring so badly?
• I liked the Jung In/Mae Re scenes. Walking hand in hand and him creating a library for her in his house were both sweet. Then he kissed her scar and while it was the same as what Moo Kyul did they felt very different. Moo Kyul’s kiss was all happy drunk puppy dog sweetness while Jung In’s kiss had a weight behind it considering he was the one who caused it.
• “You should send your ex-girlfriend an encouraging message. Show some loyalty!” – Mae Ri That made me smile.
• Mae Ri giving Moo Kyul a cabbage bouquet to make him feel better made me smile too.
• So Jung In’s scar on his hand is something he did to himself? That definitely wasn’t what I was expecting. Was he trying to kill himself? But, no, the injury was his hand so was he purposefully trying to make it impossible to play?
• I hate both the fathers.
• I liked the Seo Joon/Jung In scenes. I can definitely see them working as a couple.
• The Mae Ri/Moo Kyul kiss was lovely.
Episode 9
• “I miss you.” – Mae Ri Aw they are adorable. I love his grin. They were just really cut throughout.
• I honestly spent this whole episode going between hatred/dislike of the parents and going ‘poor Jung In/poor Moo Kyul/poor Mae Ri’. Little boy Moo Kyul was so sad.
• What I really want is an AU where the three of them meet as little kids and grow up together and are basically all BFF and always there for each other.
• “I don’t mind if the three of us meet.” – Jung In. Oh look my OT3 love still exists!
• I hate the parents on this show so much. How are they so very horrible?
- Moo Kyul’s mother So Young is the best of the three though that isn’t really saying much. She is so immature and selfish. In the flashback when she looked out her window to see her young son standing there late at night and clearly wanting to see her – and then told him to go home with a happy smile and a wave I wanted to shake her.
- Jung In’s father Jung Suk is next. I think he’s the worst parent in that he’s the most abusive but I hate Mae Ri’s dad more right now. I find Jung Suk creepy in his obsession with Mae Ri. His behaviour towards his son is pretty reprehensible (calling him a ‘useless brat’ and slapping him in the previous episode and the whole 'emotions are weak' crap)
- Mae Ri’s father Dae Han makes me so angry! I’d forgotten how much I dislike this character but I spent pretty much the entirety of this episode wishing for him to get hit by a bus. He is horrible. He is a coward and manipulative and selfish and ugh. Let me list some of the ways:
“Is there something about Mae Ri you’re not satisfied with? I’ll make her change it before the wedding.” I CAN’T EVEN. I hate him.
Him then going to Mae Ri and trying to guilt her into a marriage (as usual) and then taking away her phone and forbidding her from leaving the house. He is such an ass.
“We need to have a conversation among men. Please go to your room.” WHAT!? Because Mae Ri’s life has nothing to do with her!? *breathe in, breathe out*
Normally I think the last scene between Mae Ri and her father would have endeared him to me at least a little. The idea that he didn’t want Mae Ri choosing her first love because her mother did that and he ruined her life is sad. He even seemed sincere. But... I don't believe him. He is a manipulative liar who married her off to basically pay off his debts. I am not feeling sympathetic towards him!
