• The most interesting bit for me was Raina's intel that the 'monsters' that killed the village were Skye's parents. Does this mean Skye's an alien? Oh, I hope she's an alien. Though I suppose they could also have just been mutant?
• I also really enjoyed Raina this episode. She certainly seems to have her own agenda which is great. I loved her playing Ward.
"Something about that woman unnerves me." - Garrett. And her unnerving them makes her all the more interesting to me. Is it possible that Raina isn't human? Does she have some connection to Skye? Her interest in helping special people makes me think that at the very least she could be 'special' herself.
• Fitz's anger in the previous episode left me more annoyed than anything but his denial in this one ended up working for me much better. I loved the FitzSimmons confrontation with Ward and Fitz especially got me with his pleading.
• I love how well the team was working together this episode. Trip fits in perfectly. I really hope he sticks around next season.
• I loved Coulson fanboying over the Howling Commando's gear. And Fitz setting the curtains on fire.
• Coulson and May's "large file transfer" made me laugh.
• You'd think that SHIELD would have noticed that Garrett was made partially of metal. What excuse did he give for being a cyborg?
• I really liked the Skye/Melinda scene. I like that May's feelings were finally addressed and I loved her offer at the end to help train Skye. With Grant now the bad guy I'd love for May to take over as her mentor. I also hope that May's speech means that we're going to see a May/Ward fight in the finale and her using her anger to kick his ass.
• Ward's backstory was fine but nothing in it really showed a compelling reason, imo, for why Ward is so very loyal to Garrett. On one level it makes sense - sometimes people repeat their horrible pasts, the abused becomes the abuser - but I guess I was expecting something more. Perhaps it's just that Ward chose Garrett and everything he's done since has forced him to double-down, so to speak, on his loyalty to Garrett or face the fact that he did make the wrong choice (and thus all the horrible things he's done because of it.)
• Wait, so did Ward kill the dog? Or did Garrett shoot Buddy?
• "He's our best listener. Next to you of course." - Fitz to Simmons. Awww.
• I'm surprised that FitzSimmons were planning on going against orders, especially Fitz, considering what happened to Skye. Not that it would have mattered anyway.
• "I don't know if I've said it enough but I'm glad you're back." - Coulson. Thank you, that is all I wanted. I enjoyed them working together.
• Poor Mike. I really hope this doesn't end with his death.
