Finally finished the anime and really enjoyed it. I want more. Not only are there so many questions left unanswered but the final episode opens up several more. I guess I'm going to have to go read the manga.
- So I was wrong about the Female Titan being Eren's mom and honestly I should have known considering the blonde hair. I was wrong a second time because I ended up thinking that it was Krista though that I think was purposeful misdirection. I never even considered Annie as a possibility. Netflix messed up the order of eps 23 and 24 and I caught the opening of 24 first and was spoiled slightly that Annie was the Titan.
- I loved how clever the Female Titan was during the forest fight. Her calling the other titans to her was cool. But it was definitely a wtf moment when they started eating her and I thought that she was commiting suicide by titans.
- If Erwin knew that the female titan would use the steam to escape in human form and the go for Eren why didn't he go to Eren with more soldiers?
- Levi's team's attack on the Female Titan was great. Taking out the eyes and then her arms was very smart. If there'd been more people there it might even have worked. Or if Levi had been there.
- Levi's single attack on the Female Titan working perfectly - didn't work for me so well? I loved that he did the exact same thing as his team and it was clearly something they had worked on together. But while I understand that he's one of the best, if not the best, him succeeding still came off too easy. His team, the three left, did the same moves and she recovered much faster and killed them. I think it would have worked much better for me if it had been a team effort between Levi and Mikasa - one dealing the eye/arm blows and at the same time the other cutting her jaw and stealing Eren back. And then her getting up as they're leaving instead of just lying there.
- Why did Annie want to kidnap Eren so badly? To the extent that when Eren stole him away from her she was actually crying about it! What was she going to do with him?
- Why do the non-human Titans attack Eren but seemingly not Annie? Or is it just that the Titan's didn't know that she was in the forest until she called out?
- I found Erwin more interesting then ever in the finale. He is seriously laser-focused and unflinching in accomplishing his task to save humanity. No matter what the cost. I loved the visual representation of this: Erwin not moving an inch when Annie Titan's severed arm comes down right beside him.
- During Eren and Annie's final battle Eren gets up on last time, covered in glowing red lines while fire streaks around his body. Is it just from regenerating his injuries or is that Eren's special ability (like Annie's ability to change her skin)?
- I loved Mikasa taking down Titan Annie when she tried to climb the wall.
- WTF, Annie and Eren's Titan forms merging? Wait, sealed in crsytal, what?? OMG, there are Titan's sealed away in Wall?! Yeah, definitely manga time.
