The Grounders, Part 2

That was awesome. I loved everything about it and I'm so glad it was renewed.

Characters

Clarke - is basically the best and I love her an amazing amount.

- Her coming up with a plan to save them.
- I like that Clarke's actually not good with mechanics/wires/rocket science.
- ”Gunners stay at your posts.” ... and then they listened! Even though it likely meant they’d die they stayed. Earlier she tells Bellamy that she "gave them an easy choice" and that's why they listened to her. This was sure as hell not an easy choice but they listened to her again.
- ”Clark you can't save everyone.” – Miller. And she goes. Making the hard choices.
- "We are not Grounders." I loved her saving Anya.

Bellamy – being competent and awesome.

Raven – was shot and unable to move around and yet she still worked her hardest to save everyone (with her smarts!) because she is awesome.

Finn – was pretty great this episode actually. Braving Grounder filled forest to get medicine to save Raven, coming up with the plan to lure the Reapers to the Grounders (awesome idea! kind of taken from Bellamy), rushing into battle to save Bellamy’s life.

Jasper – saving the day!

Ocatavia – I loved her joining the gunners and then her saving Bellamy with her new fighting ability.

Jaha - I loved his goodbye before the tried to 'launch' the ships. I loved him staying behind so everyone else had the chance to survive.

Top 3 Relationships

1) Bellamy/Clarke - were amazing. So much good stuff. I love how they work together.

- Their first scene with Clarke trying to convince him to go with them because the 100 needed him. ” We can’t do this without you.”
- Clarke: “You did good here, Bellamy. You did good.”
- After the retreat Bellamy once again leaves the final decision – try to leave again or stay - up to Clarke. And when she chooses stay Bellamy takes control of the camp, putting into action what he's been pushing them to prepare for.

2) Clarke/Raven – were also wonderful. I loved everything about their interactions.

”But you are not walking there, is that clear?” – Clarke. Love non-nonsense Clarke and Raven giving in.

”It's not rocket science!” – Raven
“It is rocket science, actually.” – Clarke

LOL.

”Hey, Raven? I’d pick you first.” – Clarke
“Of course you would. I'm awesome.” – Raven

3) Bellamy/Octavia. Their goodbye was beautiful. "I told you my life ended the day you were born. But the truth is it didn't start until then. ... I need you to live.". I loved the long hug. Their “may we meet again” was touching. Also I loved him letting her go to a gunner station and not trying to force her into the safety of the drop ship like he would have done not too many episodes ago.

Other

• First - I am super shocked that no one died. I mean, sure, there were people dying all over the place but no one important. I figured at least one of the main characters was a goner (so worried about Raven) but nope I’m pretty sure everyone is alive. We know for sure that both Monty and Anya are alive, yay (also thought they were likely to die). Raven was looking really bad but we saw Clarke give her the shot and the advanced Mountain Men showed up and very likely saved her. Then there’s Bellamy and Finn – there is no way Bellamy is dead and I very much doubt Finn is either. There may have been a burnt skeletons where Clarke last saw them but that proves nothing. If they were dead the show would have had it happen on screen. Also they’re not idiots and as soon as Clarke closed the door they would have immediately started to run away. There was enough time between when we last saw them and the blast for them to have gotten far enough away. Murphy is even probably alive. … oh, I guess there is Jaha. Rescue doesn’t seem likely for him.

"Dying in a fight you can't win isn't brave Bellamy, it's stupid.” – Finn. Agreed. What I found super interesting about this exchange is that Bellamy chose to pick a fight with Finn not Clarke. After all, its Clarke’s decision to leave but he doesn’t get in her face about it. He doesn’t call her a coward for wanting to go (and I definitely don’t think he thinks she’s one either). Does he blame Finn for why Clarke is determined to leave? Is he transferring his frustration at Clarke and unhappiness about her decision onto Finn? Does he just dislike Finn? All of the above?

”I can't lose you again.” – Clarke to Finn. … ugh, no. I could have done without that. I may be making my peace with Finn but I still don’t want Finn/Clarke to actually be a thing. And I really hated that she had that moment in front of Raven.

"Hold on Abbie, you'll see your daughter soon. And I'll see my son." - Jaha. Sniff. Okay, that got to me.

• I loved Kane having a big ‘I’ll sacrifice myself!’ moment, it being dragged out in slow motion with everyone looking sad– only for Jaha to have already done it. Hee. That was hilarious.

• Why wouldn’t Clarke grab a gun to offer cover fire as soon as she left the drop ship?

• I’m thinking that Bellamy and Finn got away and are going to meet up with Lincoln/Octavia, maybe with any red shirt 100’s who also survived, and then spend the start of next season trying to save Clarke and the others from the Mountain Men.

• This series started with Clarke locked away, drawing the night sky. It ends with Clarke locked away, while on the wall Starry Night by Van Gogh. In both circumstances she is uncertain about her future. I love the parallels. Also - Clarke and the 100 leaving the ship to ash, death and destruction at the end compared to them leaving the ship and seeing beautiful Earth for the first time in the pilot.

• So many questions at the end including: if there are people with such advanced technology why did they never try to contact the Ark? Why didn’t they approach the 100 when they first landed? How the hell do they know who Clarke is? They had her last name on the camera – how??

"We saw them. Trust me it's not an option." - Clarke. Tell him why! How long does it take to say ‘cannibalistic savages’? I don't understand why she wouldn't just say that. Much like Lincoln not telling her and Finn about the Reapers before they ran into them.

• I like that they brought Drew's body back with them even though they were running back in terror. It shows how much they've changed and grown together as a group.

• I like that it was Miller who was telling Clarke that they needed to close the door since it was Miller who Bellamy told Clarke that she should rely on after he left.

• So how many of the 100 survived this battle? There were 82 at the beginning. I imagine there are significantly less by the end. I wish we’d seen at least a couple of the gunners get into the drop ship.

... and the next episode is in October not next summer like I was afraid. Yes!
