The 100 2x04 Review

• Noooo, Anya! She can still be alive right? Right?! I want to live in denial, Raven had it just as bad and look at her now!, but I know this show and she is so dead. Damn it. I'm so upset. As a character she was intriguing and I wanted to know more. Her relationship with Clarke was super interesting and I've been wanting them to become allies and friends from their very first meeting. And now they were! They escaped together, saved each others lives, took each other captive and then fought to the almost-death before finally clasping arms and becoming allies. Finally! And then Anya was shot before they could actually act and move forward with their new accord. Arg. Worst death ever.
I'm going to miss her, and her wasted potential. Anya was damn tough (ripping the tracking chip out with her teeth, ew and owww) and smart and capable. I'm also going to miss her and Clarke. Their fight was badass. Their back-and-forth was really interesting. I loved her admiring "You fought well." after Clarke didn't kill her.
• Clarke was great as ever. I loved her grabbing the dart and using it against Anya when she had a chance. I liked that she figured out how the Mountain Men were tracking them. I loved that she kept trying, over and over, to make peace with Anya even as Anya kept hitting her down. I liked that she took the effort to bring the unconscious Anya with her instead of leaving her vulnerable in the forest (even though it took a lot of work and effort). I liked that she held her own against Anya in the fight. I love that she had a moment where she honestly considered killing Anya. I love that she didn't. I love that she decided to let Anya go and then tried one last time and actually managed to reach an accord with her.
• Raven had surgery like two days ago! Seriously? She's awesome but she's not literally superhuman. That said I loved her refusing to give up and struggling to deal with her injury and coming up with a solution at the end.
• I'm really glad Wick is alive. He and Raven had a really good rapport. I enjoy them.
• Bellamy/Murphy were great. I loved the little moment of acknowledgement/thanks after Bellamy was pulled back up. I loved Bellamy trusting him and giving him a gun to watch Finn's back. Here's hoping that he actually is on the path of redemption (and doesn't die) because I've really been enjoying him this season.
• Okay, how the hell did Mel get on the side of the cliff?? Just what? No, wait, how did she survive the crash, then how did she end up on the cliff? How long has she been on there? It's been a week or so since the Ark came down so... ???
• Aw, poor Sterling. Here I was all impressed with him and Monroe and ready to learn more about them and then - death. At least he died a hero trying to save a friend. I loved how he just grabbed the rope and went over the side to save her, completely ignoring the leaders debate on what to do.
• "What we do know is that we can save this one girl." - Bellamy. How far he has come.
• Shouldn't they have sent Monroe down since she's smaller and presumably lighter than the guys?
• I loved the whole rescue sequence - the belts coming undone and Murphy saving Bellamy/Mel, Monroe grabbing the gun and providing cover fire, Murphy saying they had to let go but not actually letting go, Octavia saving them by blowing the horn, Monroe helping pull Bellamy/Mel up even with an arrow in the leg - it was all great.
• The Bellamy/Octavia reunion was wonderful.
• I'm finding Finn's continued downward spiral a little inexplicable still. Trying to get them to leave the girl on the cliff was really harsh. That's just being an asshole. Season 1 Finn would never have done that and I find myself struggling a little to figure out how he'd gotten to this point so fast.
• I liked Jaha's plotline. I liked the wider world-building it gave us. I liked Jaha giving himself up instead of running in order to protect Zoran and his family, and his understanding of why they turned him in.
