The 100 2x09 Thoughts

Excellent episode.
• Clarke: I honestly don't think I could love her any more. I really don't. A few specific things I loved (besides 'Clarke'): her brief breakdown at the beginning, her agreeing to give the Grounders Finn's body, her making camp closer to the Grounders to show them trust, her figuring out that the cup was poisoned not the drink. I love her mix of vulnerability and strength. I'm hoping that Clarke figures out quickly that Lexa's way of leading isn't the best and finds her way back to herself. She was already a great leader, she just needs to build on that.
- Her hallucinating Finn was wonderfully creepy and I would have been fine if he hung around longer except then she did the thing I hate most - talking to invisible people in front of other, omg so embarrassing - so I'm glad he's gone now.
• Raven and Raven/Clarke: I loved how the show dealt with her grief and rage over what happened. It was perfect. Of course she wouldn't understand or accept what Clarke did at first and the show let her have that. But she didn't just attack Clarke, she yelled, she blamed her but she still kept it together. I loved her punching Clarke. I liked that it was this release of pent up emotion and that just prior to doing it she did warn Clarke to back away. I liked how the show had Raven reach an understanding of Clarke's actions - by forcing Raven into Finn's position, then watching someone else die similarly (though less painfully) to how Finn would have died. I doubt that Raven has truly forgiven Clarke yet but I do think she understands and that forgiveness is now a possibility.
• Bellamy/Clarke: He didn't get much to do or emotions to show about what happened. What he did do all episode was have Clarke's back and showed that he is basically the Gustus to Clarke's Lexa. So many awesome little moments:
+ This scene:
"I said no." - Clarke
"Since I don't take orders from you I'm going to need a better reason." - Bellamy
"I can't lose you too, okay?" - Clarke.
And then he accepts that as a better reason and doesn't bring it up again. ♥ I love her voicing how important he is to her. I loved him being all 'you're not the boss of me (you totally are thou)'. I really love them as partners. They are perfect. As shown later in the episode when Clarke figures out the cup was poisoned and Bellamy figures out the Gustus did it. Teamwork, yay!
+ Bellamy first trying to get Clarke to move her sleeping bag closer to their side and then putting his right beside hers when she refused.
+ So much love for Bellamy knocking the glass out of Clarke's hand after Gustus's 'poisoning'. It was pretty much his first thought after Gustus fell even as everyone else was staring in shock.
+ Bellamy stepping in front of Clarke when the Grounder's got aggressive and holding her back when she tried to step forward. So much her protector this episode.
+ I loved the subtext in this exchange:
"He'd do anything for her. To protect her. It just makes sense." - Bellamy
"Look at the thanks he got." - Octavia
So Bellamy was very much referencing his own loyalty to Clarke here, yes? He understood that it was Gustus because it's how he would react too. And Octavia's line very much felt like a warning dig at Bellamy to be careful (because it could get him killed too, how wonderfully prescient of her? The end implies it, certainly he's going into danger on Clarke's order but there is no way the show would kill him. Not this soon after Finn.)
+ Finally this scene:
"Thought you hated the plan. That I'd get myself killed." - Bellamy
"I was being weak. It's worth the risk." - Clarke.
- Ack, Bellamy's expression when she says that. Poor Bellamy. I loved everyone's expressions.
- When writing that out I wrote 'strong' instead of weak.
- I found it interesting that no one contradicts Clarke or offers any disagreement with her new plan of action at all. They just accept it.
• I am so on board with Clarke/Lexa. This was an amazing episode for them and I am overwhelmed with shippy feelings. I liked Lexa giving Clarke the torch to light the pyre. I loved their conversation afterwards which really was Lexa trying to help Clarke with her grief and regret. She opened up about something very personal to Clarke and she gave her advice. Dare I say that she was even trying to mentor her? It was great. Later Kane tells Clarke that Lexa 'listens to her' and you know, she does. I love that too. Oh, and that the shot of Clarke following Lexa into her home was excellent.
- I'm thinking that Clarke is going to try Lexa's 'no feelings' approach to leading, eventually discover it not really something she can do/isn't the best approach and then, fingers crossed, teaching Lexa that love/caring isn't a weakness. Maybe they could discover it together and help each other heal their past losses.
• LOL to Raven with her dozen weapons. I loved her just staring at Gustus in anger and hatred, refusing to help.
• A couple little character moments I loved:
- Octavia going to check on Clarke/stepping in after Raven decked Clarke.
- Raven and Bellamy talking in the background while imprisoned. I really wish we'd gotten even a minute with them.
- Bellamy and Octavia immediately going to each others' side when the doors opened.
- Octavian protesting them taking Raven.
• The Octavia/Lincoln scenes were great. I loved their final one in particular with her willing to go into danger with him, him trusting her to keep the alliance together, and the fact that Octavia is now going to be acting as Clarke's Grounder adviser.
• I loved all the Abby/Clarke scenes. Abby comforting Clarke in the beginning was lovely. Their fight/confrontation in the middle was great. I love that the whole 'dad' issue hasn't been forgotten. They never really dealt with it and I love that it boils up as Abby is trying to comfort and connect with Clarke. Clarke's We are the same." made me go ouch and based on Abby's expression made her too.
Then there was Abby collecting some of Finn's ashes from the fire for Clarke to spread in goodbye. That was really very sweet and thoughtful. I'm hoping she gives them to Raven because if anyone needs them it's her.
• "They're being lead by a child." - Abby
"So are we." - Kane ♥ Also kind of surprising to see Kane taking a step back and letting Clarke lead and make the decisions.
• Oh thank god, Monty's in a cage. I mean sure that's not a good sign but he's alive and not currently being drained of blood and/or spinal fluid, so yay! I was so worried he was dead. Monty is awesome and clever and one of my favourites.
• Gustus's death was actually rather sad. Sure, he tried to torpedo our heroes but he was only doing it out of love and loyalty. The part that really got to me is when Lexa stepped in front of him, hesitated and he told her "Be strong." - protecting her and loyal till the end. Ouch. Poor both of them. You'd think there would be some leeway in their laws. Sure, he acted against her but only to protect her!
Excellent episode.
