‘Usagi’s Nervous Valentine’

Best Shibby Moment: Mamoru’s affectionate and amused smile when Usagi thanked Hina for the sucker.

Funniest Moment: Minako giving Artemis a Valentine’s gift. His reactions during the whole scene were hilarious – from wide-eyed surprise to happiness to freaked out to not pleased – as the first gift literal blew up in his face. I just love Minako teasing him like that and her laughter afterwards. It’s not something we see often with the ubber serious Minako.

Cutest Moment: “I am not losing to that woman.” – Hikari, flips hair back. Aww and also heh. That was adorable. Runner up: Motoki’s reaction to Makoto giving him the scarf.

Saddest Moment: Usagi happily finishing her muffler, smiling and then slowly losing that smile. I just really felt for her in that moment.

WTF of the Week: Two: 1) Usagi don’t transform in the middle of all those people! I realize transforming happens in an instant and that everyone was running around panicking but all it takes is one person to be looking right at her to see her transform. Also did she not call any of the others about the youma? If the plan was to distract the Senshi then where were Ami and Makoto? 2) Why didn’t Mars just attack Nephrite? Why waste the time telling him to stop and then just standing there while he holds down Venus and grabs the crown? And as with Moon – why the hell didn’t Mars call the others as soon as she’d figured out that the Dark Kingdom was really there?

Coolest Moment: Usagi running up and jumping off the column during her fight with the youma.

Best Senshi Moment: Usagi with Hikari – she was just really great with her.

Best Senshi Interaction: There weren’t really a lot of moments between them. I suppose Makoto/Ami – “Keeping secret’s amongst ourselves is no good.” How did she even learn that Rei knew more about the princess then she was saying? Did Luna tattle? Of course while it’s a great thing to say it’d be better if that’s actually how it was. Rei lying about the Minako being Venus/the princess and not telling the others about her suspicions regarding Venus, Makoto and Ami keeping the truth about Hina from Usagi, Usagi/Makoto/Ami not telling Rei about Usagi’s feelings for Mamoru… talk to each other girls!

+ I really liked the Tuxedo Kamen/Sailor Moon scene. Wow, it’s been a long time since we’ve gotten a scene like this between them! Him not realising that it’s him that she likes was kind of a head/desk moment but I loved his advice – “If you love him don’t give up.” – even though he thought it was about another guy. I liked that Usagi is now no longer crushing on Tuxedo Kamen and that now it is about Mamoru.

‘Hina Was Mamoru’s Fiancée...’

Hottie Of the Week: Rei. I thought she was looking great throughout the whole episode but especially during her scene with Ami in the Crown.

Best Shibby Moment: His surprise and smile when he ate one of Usagi’s sandwiches and stated that it was good.

Funniest Moment: Motoki’s little freak out when Makoto arrived at the Crown, his enthusiastic thanks and especially Makoto’s little wave and bemused smile over it. Clearly she is not understanding just how serious this is for him. Not funny per say but Ikuko’s hair was completely insane. I had to rewind to check that it was actually how I thought it was. It looked like an anime villain’s hair.

Cutest Moment: Luna playing with the yarn was pretty cute.

Saddest Moment: For me it was actually the moment in the Crown when Ami, smiling slightly went and got herself and Rei a mug of tea and then brought them to the table, only Rei wasn’t paying attention and left without noticing. I felt so bad for Ami. Plus it really is a moment encapsulating how far they’ve all drifted apart.

WTF of the Week: I’m not sure where Kunzite was going with his allusions – was he just trying to keep each of the senshi separate so that he could chose one at random? But only Rei and Usagi saw them – Makoto didn’t appear to see any (even though she was right there with Usagi) and with Ami especially there were no signs of any illusions. In fact how the hell did he even know that Ami was Sailor Mercury?

Coolest Moment: Hmmm… Makoto leaning the truth about Tuxedo Kamen’s identity was pretty cool. That said upon seeing TK running and knowing that he often saves Moon didn’t Makoto wonder where he was going?

Best Senshi Moment: … Ami’s unwavering faith that all would be fine between the senshi

Best Senshi Interaction: Rei/Minako, at the beginning. There’s still tension between them but it was really less… negative. Or so it seemed to me. Minako tells Rei to remember everything for herself and to grow as a soldier. And comes right out with – “I’ll be waiting for that.” which felt hopeful more than anything. Like there really is nothing more that she would like. What is very interesting (and what I of course know) is that Venus is positioning Mars to succeed her as the leader to the senshi and she comes out and tells Mars that here – “You should be capable of being the Senshi’s leader.”
