I Hear Your Voice Episode 16 Thoughts

I loved this episode.
Okay the first twenty-minutes with the trial were only okay but after that we got a lot of really great moments.
• I loved the Kwan-woo/Lawyer Shin scene so much. It was both hilarious and really emotional. It's honestly one of my favourite scenes of the entire series. Of course Kwan-woo would pick up on the undercurrents of lawyer Shin's self-loathing and unhappiness. I loved absolutely everything about how that scene played out: the way that Kwan-woo moves his chair back before he confesses to throwing dog-poop at Shin's car 7 years ago [omg lol]; Shin chasing him around the table and then throwing food at him; cop Kwan-woo [!]; Kwan-woo saying that Shin saved him by stopping him from sending an innocent man to jail and that Shin was the reason he became a lawyer, because he wanted to be like him [♥]; Kwan-woo telling Shin not to change and continue being exactly who he is [aww]; Shin getting emotional and hugging Kwan-woo [awwwwww!]; the other customers getting so caught up in the drama [lol]; and Shin pulling Kwan-woo's hair while berating him for the poop before laughing/crying and hugging him again [awww ♥]. Best backstory reveal ever.
• The Do-yeon/Dal-joong scenes were wonderful. I love them. I loved how Do-yeon first approached the situation - being kind of distant seeming, saying the pastels were meant for her and that he should sit, throwing the 'father' in there casually - it was just so her. Dal-joong crying at getting to hear her call him 'father' and then his huge grin and Do-yeon's teary-eyes - so many feels. But it was their second scene that revealed that they are also super adorable together. I thought her picture of him was pretty good but loved him teasing her about seeing why she went law school. I loved getting to see her ego when she confirms that 'no matter who raised her she'd still be as beautiful and successful', lol.
But best of all was him asking her to take a selfie with him and then send it to lawyer Shin and Hye-sung, her horror at the idea -- and then she actually does it! Complete with silly faces! I can't believe she actually sent it. I love the reactions to it - Shin's glee and then putting it as his backdrop and Hye-sung's exaggerated horror.
• "I apologize. Sincerely." - Do-yeon. Yes! It was a lovely, quiet little scene.
• I loved Hye-sung's confrontation with Kwan-woo and her calling him out on keeping things from her. I loved her knowing, based on his character, that he would only do that to protect either her or someone else and being mad/disappointed that he'd think her so 'weak and pathetic' that she wouldn't be able to handle it. Exactly! They should never have kept this from her.
• I love that even in his dreams Hye-sung is complaining and telling Soo-ha what to do and he loves it. It was a pretty adorable dream [until the blood and death.]
• Joon-gook has kidnapped Hye-sung which is both terrible and awesome. I'm not particularly worried that she'll be killed so I can just really enjoy all the delicious angst that going to come from this. I'm really hoping that we get to see Hye-sung's side of what happened - she was texted on Soo-ha's phone and went to meet her, of course - and that we don't only follow the guys trying to save her. Considering her words to Kwan-woo earlier I'm also really hopeful that this isn't just a situation where she needs to be saved.
• I love that it was Hye-sung remembering a conversation with Kwan-woo that inspired her winning closing argument. I love how much the two of them have bettered each other as lawyers and consistently help each other.
• I really liked the scene where Dal-joong tells Shin he forgives Judge Seo because he doesn't want his last emotions to be hate for him, and Hye-sung remembers her last call with her mom where Choon-shim's last words were telling her not to spend her life hating someone, and then Soo-ha's puts his arm around her as Shin embraces Dal-joong. Lovely little scene.
• The detective assigned to Soo-ha being super annoyed at the the running was amusing and I loved him wanting to change details and Hye-sung's detective being all "i don't want to", hee.
• Hye-sung freaking out at the TV because the news didn't mention her at all and Soo-ha's amusement amused me. Sometimes she is so ridiculous.
• I really liked the Do-yeon scene with her mom. It's been really clear that they have a very close relationship and while she's not as awesome as Choon-shim [awesomeest mom ever] she is pretty great. I love so much that after hearing everything she chose to leave the house with Do-yeon. So at least two out of four of her parents are lovely, decent people.
• Hye-sung yelling at prosecutor Jo to "shut your mouth, turf-hair" and his gobsmacked reaction, lol. And then the judges looking at her afterwards and her being all 'what?'
• The solution to finding Hye-sung seems obvious to me - Soo-ha still has his old phone which also has the tracking software on it. He just needs to fix it and voila.
I loved this episode.
