3x12 'The Vehm' (No. 132)

+ There was some lovely Red/Liz moments. I loved his protectiveness towards her and his worry. I really loved the fact that Red was the first person she told (♥) and I like that he already knew. I loved Red's reaction to Liz's new hair - "I missed you." and the look on his face was so great. I liked Red's talk with her at the end and him trying to reassure her that he supports her having the baby. Him hiring a pregnancy masseuse was nice too.

+ "You're the only reason I need protection" Seriously?! This annoys me so goddamn much. Arg. Why are they going back to this nonsense?! It was literally the last episode where they had a discussion about how she will always be a target because of who her mother was. That has nothing to do with Red. She knows that. I am having season 1 flashbacks. So does she not trust Red again? Because wtf?! After everything that has happened it makes no sense. Just... why? I'm so mad and so irritated with the writers right now.

There are ways to create conflict between Red and Liz, if they must, but this is by far the dumbest of them. Like for instance, Red's highhandedness. He's only trying to make things easier for her - buying her a sofa, getting her a masseuse - and to protect her - the protection detail - but I can see how that could quickly piss her off, especially the latter point. Hell, I'm annoyed with Red there because Liz had finally maybe made a friend outside of work and he ruined it. Then there's the fact that they are on very opposite sides of the Tom issue which has always been a point of contention. There is no need to throw in this ridiculous 'Red is the cause of the danger in Liz's life' nonsense.

*You know, despite this new/old Liz/Red nonsense the fact that Liz chose to tell Red first over everyone else and completely unprompted says a lot about how much she actually trusts him. Regardless of what the writers are having her say.

+ I loved the scene of Red killing Lizzie's attacker. I really liked him talking to her on the phone during it.

+ Aram continuing to be the sweetest person ever: he sent Liz trashy novels while she was recovering, her wrote a glowing report recommending Samar's reinstatement under Ressler's name and he was a good friend to Cooper at the end.

+ I do not buy Tom calling the dog "our kid" considering how fraught having a kid was for them and the fact they never called their dog anything like that before. Also I don't believe that is their dog.

+ I'm going to miss Liz's blonde hair. It was a good look for her.

+ I liked Dembe calmly putting a stop to Gerard's singing and Red's 'oh fine buzzkill' reaction. Red was pretty on edge the whole episode (and for obvious reasons) and during this scene it felt like Red really could lose it. Him making them sing and being all smiley was weird and kind of offputting and Dembe clearly thought so too.

We really haven't gotten much from Dembe since I've started catching up and I really wish they'd let him be more than a background support. I was really hoping for instance that the time on the run would build up the Liz/Dembe relationship and we'd get to see them being friends. But honestly I just want him doing something other then being there at Red's back.

3x13 'Alistair Pitt' (No. 103)

+ I was having so much season 1 flashbacks in the first Red/Liz scene. Red with a case, Liz being cold and asking personal questions, Red side-stepping them, things being tense between them. It's only just started up again and I'm done with this nonsense.

+ "How the hell did Reddington find this guy? He's like a magician. I hate magicians." - Ressler. Heh.

+ The second Red/Liz scene near the end was great. Yay to Liz knocking out the DEA agent to save Red. I always love that.

+ Liz's utter 'don't give a fuck' expression when the Agent Tucker was shot in the throat was certainly something. TBH, I kind of loved it.

+ It wasn't really clear to me if Agent Tucker was killed by a stray bullet from the other room or by Red?

+ I really don't know how I feel about the Red backstory we got. Does Josephine have any connection to the larger story? Who is she? How does she fit in the story? Her showing up felt really sudden, I can't remember hearing any hint of her before, so it threw me off a bit. Red clearly really cares about her. Loves her even and her loss still hurts him. I'm not sure how it fits with what we know of Red thus far so I guess that's what's throwing me.

+ Whatever happened to Liz not going into the field? Because she caught up to Red so quickly that she had to have been one of the first in the door, into a room with gunfire all over the place, without a gun and while pregnant.

+ It was really nice to see Liz and Samar talking and that pull away of the two of them standing together, each with her own pain but sharing it together. It really felt in that scene like they were friends and I really want to see more of this. I think both of them really need a friend.

On Lizzy's 'con' list she put down 'no friends'. I don't know that I entirely agree with that but it's also not completely wrong either. Red is a complicated can of worms. I'd definitely say Aram is her friend besides being a co-worker though perhaps not someone she can go out for drinks with or invite over when she's upset. Ressler, Cooper and Samar... co-workers, people she cares for greatly and who care for her, work friends... but I don't know if I could say friends-friends. She is right that she needs that. Why not Samar?

+ I liked that Liz went back to the same adoption agency and that the woman there was still really friendly towards Liz. We've seen a lot of the hostility towards her so this was a nice change. But then they were friendly/friends before everything.
