The Blacklist 4x01 Thoughts

I enjoyed it.
+ I'm not worried about Red or Dembe but if they kill Mr. Kaplan I'm going to be so angry! I loved the way she lunged forward to cover Agnes with her body.
+ Mr. Kaplan and Red were the most painful part of the episode and I loved everything with them. Her just wanting to help and him purposefully cutting her out while still dragging her around with him was so sad. I feel like him making her stay with him through it all was part punishment (not letting her help) and part him still not actually decided on how to deal with her betrayal. I loved her sitting down and confronting him
+ I loved the mirror scene. Everything about it was perfect. I loved Red ignoring Kirk at first and his unwavering focus on asserting that Liz was okay. I loved Liz making the decision to choose Red by telling him she was on his left and him immediately shooting at Constantine. They're the best when they're working as a team. I love the way he talked directly to Liz even though he couldn't see her. I loved his "I'm not leaving here without you." and "I will come for you, Elizabeth." I loved the expression on her face when he says the last. I love her ordering him to leave to protect him. I can't wait til they come face to face again.
+ The Liz/Constantine scenes were good. I liked her anger (very understandable) and it really does seem like he was genuine in his feelings about her even though I don't know how much I believe his pov on how events in the past played out. I liked Liz constantly fighting to escape - punching Constantine, the trick with the bandaid, her fight at the woodpile.
+ I enjoyed all of Red's efforts to find Liz. It was classic Red and very fun. I loved him walking through the club with Dembe and Mr. Kaplan. I loved the face off with the dirty cops.
+ I so did not call the reactions of the team. Well, Harold and Aram I got mostly right. But Samar and Ressler were exactly opposite in how I thought they'd react. Samar is super practical and I thought that would win out but instead she was the hardline angry person. Ressler, meanwhile, was 100% concerned with finding Liz and already seems to be willing to forgive (telling Samar that they need to first find out why Liz did what she did.) I never thought he'd abandon Liz, and certainly their friendship and his love for her would win out, but I was sure that he would be the one pissed off and unable to hide it.
+ I loved the Aram/Tom phone call and Aram being unable to stop pressing if Tom knew the truth.
+ I liked that little moment between Dembe and Mr. Kaplan with him telling her that he's not on her side. I hope the show delves a little more into their relationship.
+ Ressler's reaction to being kidnapped again was amusing. I liked how unphased he was with it and how quickly he gained control of the situation afterwards. I also loved that he called the Cuban government on Esteban because it was the right thing to do even if it put his job at risk. I thought Red was setting him up to kill Esteban so this was a much better solution and I liked how unapologetic he was about it. Overall it was a great episode for Ressler.
+ Kirk really needs to get better people. Liz and Agnes's lives were threatened multiple times - the woman with the knife seemed very willing to hurt/kill Liz, Kirk's main guy plowed a car into the one carrying Agnes, Solomon was directly responsible for Liz's 'death' - and at the end his men abandoned the house.
+ I enjoy Cynthia Panabaker disgusted irritation with having to deal with Red.
+ A little exchange I found interesting: Kirk calling Liz 'Masha' and her correcting him that her name is 'Elizabeth'. In the flashbacks that Liz remembered of the fight between her parents it was her father who was insisting that her name was Elizabeth. Also this episode had Red calling Liz 'Elizabeth' which isn't something he does often.
+ One thing that bothers me is Agnes not being taken with Liz. She should have been grabbed when Liz was taken and travellled to the house with her. It also made no sense for her to be taken for on that long, long drive with Tom instead of being taken directly to the house. And finally it made no sense for Agnes not to be on the plane with them at the end unless Kirk was specifically keeping them separated to control Liz which if he was is something he should have said because otherwise it just looks like yet another instance of them keeping Agnes separate for no reason.
