Gilmore Girls 7x22 Thoughts

iariaGetting ready to start the new Gilmore Girls episodes I realised that I never actually watched the series finale. I'm not sure why. So I figured I should probably do that first which lead to watching a bunch of season 7 first. I find that I liked Chris/Lorelai a little less than the first time, it brought back my love for Rory/Logan (♥♥) and Rory/Paris who were both wonderful, I'm still super irritated with how Logan/Rory broke up, I was more disappointed by how much a backseat Rory/Lane took this time and I was really sad that Richard (for unhappy necessary reasons) is dead in the revival. The episode where he's in the hospital from a heart-attack was so much worse knowing what's ahead.
Bon Voyage
I really enjoyed it. I think it was a pretty good end to the series.
+ I love that the final scene was Lorelai and Rory sitting at Luke's, chatting and sharing one last coffee.
+ The Richard/Lorelai scene made me cry. "It takes a remarkable person to inspire all of this." Beautiful moment. I love that he told her that he regretted her moving to Stars Hollow.
+ Emily's 'It's not as if you two are saying goodbye' made me wince a lot. Ouch.
+ Rory/Lorelai were perfect. I loved Lorelai crying as she watched Rory sleep. I loved Rory's speech to her mom at the party and thought it was a really moving moment.
+ The Rory/Lane scene was wonderful.
+ "I don't know what it's like to have a sister." Okay, I get what she means here but still - Gigi.
+ Emily trying to sneakily keep Lorelai in her life and Lorelai realising it was another truly moving moment.
+ Luke planning the party for Rory (but really Lorelai), especially staying up all night to sew together all those tarps to create a giant tent, was lovely and sweet. I loved him opening the diner early for them.
There were other little things I wish we'd had - Rory hugging Richard and them having a little moment too, Richard hugging Lorelai after his words to her, a phone call between Rory and Logan, Paris making an appearance, Rory calling Christopher to say goodbye - but overall it was lovely.
Hopes for the revival:
- Rory/Logan to get back together, have a lot of great scenes and to end the series as a happy couple
- lots of lovely Rory/Lorelai/Emily scenes and a focus on their relationships
- Rory and Lorelai to be as close as ever
- Emily and Lorelai to have a closer relationship
- Rory to still be good friends with Paris and Lane.
