Wow, this episode did not make me happy.

Didn't Like

• I feel like I made a wish on a monkey's paw. All I wanted was Rory and Logan together and happy and apparently I needed to specify not cheating. Ugh. I am so unhappy about the Rory/Logan storyline. I mean I wasn't overjoyed with it in Winter but I didn't find it terrible and I had hope but the reveal that they aren't in an open relationship but are actively having an affair is just... ugh, ugh, whyyyy? If TPTB didn't like him and them that much couldn't they have just left him out? I would have preferred that so much more. It really ruined the entire episode for me (if not the whole revival) and I'm not sure how it could be made better. It's such a mess. I could never imagined in all my worst fears anything as terrible as this.

• So I have questions about the specifics here: like how long have Rory and Logan had this 'when in London' relationship? 2 years? 5 years? Did they start just before Winter? How long between that and him dating and subsequently getting engaged to Odette? Or did it happen after he became engaged? Most important - why do either of them think this is acceptable?

• I am so unhappy with what was done to Logan. So he's right back working for his father? When season 7 was about him breaking free? Is his engagement to Odette because of his dad or does he actually love her? Actually does it even matter - I just don't believe that Logan would cheat on his fiance. That's not who he is. That has never been who he is, even in season six. Logan has always been honest and straight-foward in his relationships. I mean maybe they have an open relationship and she knows about Rory but it really doesn't seem like it. Between the return to being under his father's thumb and his relationship with Rory while engaged I call character assassination. All of his character growth was just completely dropped. D: This is so wrong and I'm really mad about it.

• And Rory! For me the very worst thing she ever did in the series was sleeping with married Dean, breaking up his marriage and then dating him afterwards (where it seemed like she didn't really understand why what she did was so horrible.) And apparently she didn't learn because now she's carrying on a secret affair with engaged Logan? Ugh.

• Also Rory is apparently still in a relationship with Paul? And he doesn't know about Logan? Why is she still stringing him along? What is even the point of him in the show except to highlight Rory being a genuinely terrible person?

• Why are Lorelai and Luke still not communicating? Him shutting her down about her worries over the inn, her lying about the therapy with her mother for no reason and him not confronting her about it or telling her about Emily and the property hunt - it's terrible.

• I found the Lorelai/Emily shared therapy sessions disappointing. One meeting with saying nothing, fine. But they have some many issues, so much hurt between them, and I wanted to see them actually talking about some of it and start to work through it. Sigh.

• All of the stuff about Rory's work, especially that meeting with SandeeSays at the end and how it playing out, didn't work for me either. I didn't like how unprepared Rory went into her meetings and it all just fell flat to me. The show keeps harping on how great a writer/journalist Rory is but they are not showing it and that bothers me so much. She ended season 7 on such a high note and I don't understand why her career stagnated so much.

Liked

• I really loved Rory saying hi to Richard's portrait and the way she kissed her hand and touched it to him.

• Rory and Paris at Chilton. The whole bathroom scene with Paris's freakout and Rory being a good friend and Francie was great. Paris kicking the bathroom door shut made me laugh so much. I liked Rory the teacher and while she was clearly not into it I think it could actually be a great direction for her to go in. The traumatized students after Paris's lecture and the Headmaster's little plea not to leave him alone with Paris amused me.

• I like that for all of Paris's worries about her kids liking the nanny more when they got home they both immediately ran to hug her.

• Rory and Doyle e-mail and are still friends and are up to date on each others lives, aww. That makes me happy. I liked Rory offering to take the kids out for dinner to break up the fight and her telling the nanny she'd watch the kids if she wanted a break (though I wish we'd seen her actually playing with them.)

• Lorelai's wrap dress during the therapy scene post dinner with Luke was so pretty and I want it.

• Lorelai's individual therapy session was nice and her talking about how her dad died was moving.

• The Stars Hollow International Food Festival was nice.

• Ignoring for a second the terribleness of the whole cheating thing (ugh) Rory/Logan remain cute. I loved her sitting in his lap and his comments during her phone call. I liked how well they get along and him happily listening to her ranting and him being supportive and willing to help her out. I still love them together. (Why did they have to ruin them??!!)

• Lorelai and Rory in New York was pretty fun. I enjoyed them in the line researching. Lorelai took the Logan reveal shockingly well. Really, really shockingly well. It was a little weird and I actually hope that isn't all we're getting from her on the topic.

• Luke and Emily together amuse me especially during the property search.
