I came across someone complaining about Rand in the finale of Huge. Specifically how she acted towards her father. Now Rand isn’t one of my favourite characters but I completely understood her anger at Salty in this episode. Frankly, even though I like Salty I was pissed at him on her behalf. Rand clearly has scars from him abandoning her. I’ve never got the sense that he was a horrible father and so I assume that up until he left he was a good/average father who she loved and then one day she woke up or came home and he was gone and never came back. So I get anger at him just generally. (And suddenly I’m reminded of Thatcher on GA.)

But in this episode specifically you suddenly have him about to do it again, after she let him back into her life and gave him a job and began to forge a new relationship with him, he was just going to leave without telling her. Abandoning her yet again. I’m pretty sure that brought back all those feeling from childhood and that along with how it’s making her feel right now and I can’t blame her at all for her rage at him. Then to learn that he’s abandoning her again to go be there for the sister that she never knew she had – yikes. Honestly I was surprised by how the scene ended. I mean Rand managed to overcome all that rage and pain to actually see Salty’s pain and feel empathy for him. Instead of throwing him out she actually comforted him! She hugged him! For me that was pretty amazing on her part and I was impressed with her in a way that I haven’t been thus far.

Covert Affairs 1x08 ‘What Is and What Should Never Be’

This was a pretty good episode though kind of depressing overall.

• I loved the black and red suit Annie was wearing at the beginning of her flashback. It was simply gorgeous and she looked stunning in it. I am filled with this overwhelming desire of ‘want!’ every time I look at it. I couldn’t even concentrate on what they were saying at first.

• I really like how the Annie/Jai relationship is playing out. I’d be fine with them being friends or dating but what I really want is for them to become partners. I love the chemistry between them. He may be there as Arthur’s mole to watch her but I think it’s very clear that he genuinely likes her. I loved her bringing him to a family barbeque for their first date.

• I’m really not feeling Annie/Ben as a pairing. I liked that when she told him that ‘she realised that she didn’t want to talk to him’ she didn’t follow that up by saying that she wanted to kiss/hold him and instead stated that she wanted him to talk. I’m glad she’s angry at him.

• I like Joan more and more, and I agree with Auggie that Joan clearly likes Annie a lot. I’d love for her to mentor Annie.

• It was nice to see Agent Rossabi again actually. I liked his and Annie’s interactions in this episode.

Rizzoli & Isles 1x08 ‘I’m Your Boogie Man’

I loved this episode.

• I thought it was rather strange, and probably not the best idea, when they brought back Hoyt again this season. It just seemed too soon and I was preparing myself of things repeating themselves. Instead we got some really fascinating and needed back story and a lot of excellent character interaction.

• It’s a good thing I am all about the characters and not into this show for the cases and plot because I knew within the first ten minutes that the wife was working with Hoyt. I didn’t guess Lola was Emily until I saw her in Jane’s apartment though (but I did get it before the reveal).

• The Jane/Maura this episode was so wonderful. I love these women and their relationship with each other. The scene on Jane’s couch with the gun was excellent and made me happy but I loved the Maura/Jane scene where Maura opens up about her childhood and fears. It was so compelling and well done and just lovely.

• I also loved the Jane/Korsak scene. I loved the back story we got and I loved how we got it. It didn’t feel like an info dump which it could have. Instead it was full of emotion and it conveyed a lot of information. Korsak and Jane didn’t have a close partnership or else they were fighting so she went after Hoyt alone. He’s felt guilt about it since especially after she requested a new partner. (I had thought they’d been reassigned.) She in turn asked for a new partner because she was ashamed by how broken he saw her and thought he wouldn’t trust her at his back after seeing her so weak. I loved him telling her so fervently that Hoyt didn’t break her. It was just a wonderful moment between them. Now I want to know why Korsak said ‘I made it hard to ask’ – what was that about?

• I really liked Maura’s scenes with Hoyt. She did so well against him.
