Kyou Kara Maou - Episodes 95 & 96

+ After a bunch of filler type episodes I’m really happy to get back to Saralegui. I loved all the Saralegui/Yuuri interactions. Their first scene where Sara welcomes Yuuri was great. His clasping Yuuri’s hands in his own, smiling and saying how happy he is to see him... and then we get the reactions with Yuuri smiling happily back and not being at all awkward while Wolfram keeps his temper in the background (but was not at all happy). And then with Sara and Yuuri declaring their desire to become good friends and Wolfram starts steaming and yet he still doesn’t lose it which says that his growth really is permanent. Not a lot to say really just lots of general love for Sara and Sara/Yuuri and Wolfram stewing in jealousy.
+ Oh – I loved with the catch and release hunting at the beginning. Yuuri is just so powerful and loved and awesome that he got brought back a giant bear-creature instead of a rabbit one. Heh.
3x18/Episode 96
+ I have no idea what the hell Saralegui’s plan with regards to Yuuri is. I can’t figure him out. He’s very manipulative but I can’t figure out to what end. Clearly he wants Yuuri to trust him completely – hmm. I have no problem with it though. In fact I kind of love it. When Sara hugged – no glomped – Yuuri in the secret passage and was all “Sorry I was scared.” I actually laughed out loud. Scared, my ass, but I totally respect it. Also I’m very amused because it’s very much something you’d see on a show with a female character pretending to be scared in order to be close to a male character.
Then we get the coffin scene which as soon as they heard noises I knew exactly where it was going. But I have to wonder why Yuuri never even thought about the fact that they could have easily (and more quickly) just jumped back into the secret passage and shut the door. Everything moved too fast and then he was distracted?
I have to say that this is the scene that made me fall in love with Saralegui. (In fact I wrote while watching – 'Oh, Sara. I kind of love him.'). I mean it was brilliant – getting them there, alone, and then into the coffin all intimate and forced to press up close to each other... ♥ I love this scene.
Also it really feels, at least in this episode, that they are pushing the Yuuri/Saralegui ship far more than they have any other ship before, except for perhaps Yuuri/Conrad. I mean all the touching between them – Sara is constantly touching Yuuri or standing very close and I love it – to them staring at each other, the many smiles directed at each other... In the coffin scene we have Yuuri musing “From this angle he’s even more beautiful. And he smells nice too.” and it is not the first time he’s thought like this about Sara. This especially sticks out because the last time Yuuri thought about someone else in this way (not Sara) that I remember was when he met Julia. He doesn’t think this way when he sees Conrad or Wolfram or even Flurin. It adds to the atmosphere of Yuuri and Sara being played as an actual romance a lot more. I mean everything about their interactions is sliding from subtext to text in waving the ‘shipping’ flag. And I can’t help but ship it myself. Yuuri’s just so taken with Sara! And Sara is a cipher and is manipulative but it’s why I love him (I’m fine with manipulative see my love for Ben Linus).
I liked him playing with Yuuri and I want to see more of it. During the coffin scene I was totally expecting Sara to kiss Yuuri and I really, really wanted it to happen. The fact, that Sara takes them to his bedroom to ravish Yuuri to hide also clearly needs some fic.
+ I loved this moment:
(Sara takes Yuuri’s hand, leaning close) "You’re kind, Yuuri."
(Wolfram silently freaks out)
Heee. These type of scenes never get old.
+ I also really loved Yuuri’s pledge at the end that Sara wasn’t alone anymore because “From now on I’m here.”
