Sailor Venus and Zoisite Are Working Together?
Awards
Hottie Of the Week: Zoisite.
Best Shibby Moment: I loved Mamoru’s affectionate smile when he realized that Usagi had fallen asleep during their phone call and him wishing her goodnight.
Funniest Moment: Makoto throwing a temper tantrum when she learned that Minako’s concert was sold out.
Cutest Moment: Sailor Moon and Endymion just standing there grinning at each other after the battle was really adorable.
Saddest Moment: The Minako/Usagi car scene. I found Usagi being such a spaz kind of embarrassing but so very sad. This scene really brought to mind how close these two were in the other canons, how close the four other Senshi are now and how separate Minako is from them, not just Venus, and it makes me mourn for what could have been. I want their friendship! I want Usagi to be teasing and loving Minako just like she does the other Senshi, not fawning and being in awe of her. This scene just made me so sad for both of them, and all the other Senshi and what they are missing.
WTF of the Week: Why was the majority of the audience made up of young children? We’ve been shown that she has a lot of younger fans but for a big concert like this I would think teenagers and young adults would be more likely. It was weird.
Coolest Moment: The final fight was amazing. I think it was definitely the best choreographed fight of the show. I loved how it changed as new people entered – starting first between Kunzite and Jadeite, then between Endymion/Kunzite and Sailor Moon/Jadeite, and then ending with Sailor Moon & Sailor Venus versus Kunzite and Endymion versus Jadeite. There is so much I loved about this whole sequence – the introduction of weapons into battle is definitely something I can get behind, Endymion and Sailor Moon standing shoulder-to-shoulder and fighting together, I love that Endymion concentrated on his fight and didn’t once worry about Sailor Moon holding her own, Sailor Moon holding her own against Jadeite (and his weapons) was excellent, Venus stepping between her princess (and prince) and the others… it was all good. It’s too bad that Venus didn’t have her manga sword.
Best Senshi Moment: Venus – her calmly ordering Zoisite “Tell your Master to stay away from our princess.” even while he’s holding a dagger to her throat was pretty stone-cold awesome.
Best Senshi Interaction: Minako/Usagi. The hallway scene was painful and lovely. I loved Minako calling Usagi ‘Princess’ (even as it saddens me because that really is all she is at this point). I loved Usagi fighting so hard to keep her memories and Minako realising just how deep the love between the two is and finally being unable to take that from Usagi. She started it because she thought it was her duty – to protect her princess and the world – and she stopped because in the end she loves her princess most and erasing her love wasn’t something Minako could do to her (as opposed to ‘for her’ as she thought of it before that point).

• “We have a mission passed down from our past life, right? That’s what I live for. So that the past doesn’t repeat.” – Minako. This is so sad. I’m really worried that she’ll die before she finds a better reason to live for – the other Senshi and their love and friendship – and that would be tragic.
• The Venus/Zoisite scenes were interesting not the least because I love the idea of the Senshi and Shitennou teaming up. Zoisite seems more powerful then I remember and showed some new skills. He disappeared when Venus attacked, and while disappearing is something we’ve seen all of the Shitennou do before this time he used it to avoid a Senshi attack which shows a greater speed. Also showing more speed is... well the speed at which he appeared to move. He didn’t disappear and reappear behind Venus. He very clearly speed behind her which is not something we’ve seen before from the Shitennou. It’s interesting. Also interesting was the fact that he could have easily killed Venus but even before realising that they had a similar goal he was warning her away and it seemed clear to me from what he said that he had no intention on actually killing Venus. He simply wanted her to stay away from his prince.
We’ve had Mercury having a relationship with both Nephrite and Kunzite and it’s only fair to give the other Senshi and Shitennou a chance to create relationships as well. I love the idea of Venus and Zoisite because of their similarities in their love and complete devotion to their princess/prince. But based on how this act ended I’m guessing any sense of being allies will be gone. I mean in the end she did help save Endymion and I can’t see how Zoisite could ever think that she wouldn’t pick her princess over the prince but I don’t imagine he’s going to be pleased with her now. Oh, well.
• I love that Mamoru didn’t fall for Mio’s usual tricks.
• The timing at the climax of the episode felt off. Why did Mamoru wake from the spell when the spell over Usagi was broken? For a moment I wondered if he was so susceptible to it because of what was happening with Usagi but then it appeared as if Mio got him before Minako opened the music box which would indicate there isn’t a correlation. If that’s true then why would Usagi being free of the music set him free? Or was it that once Usagi was set free her rush of memory caused her to psychically reach out for him and that broke the spell? Even if that’s so how the hell is it that Sailor Moon showed up on the roof only seconds later?
• So did Usagi not see Mio standing there with Mamoru and the Shitennou on the roof? Did she think that since Mio was human her attack would have no affect on her or did she over-hear the whole sequence of events? I ask because Sailor Moon’s attack went straight for her as well as the Shitennou. It’s rather surprising that we get no mention of Mio considering the last time Usagi saw her they were friends. I can’t see how she could have missed seeing Mio or her disappearing so their next run-in should be interesting.
• Kunzite being willing to kill Beryl’s Shadow was pretty interesting. I understand that he wanted to keep Mamoru to himself to use as leverage against her but you’d think he’d realise that subtlety probably wouldn’t go amiss in this situation. Especially since he knows that Beryl does have power over him. He’s smarter than this. He’s practically declared himself her enemy!
• What exactly does ‘Shadow’ mean with regards to Mio? Is she an actual person that Beryl has taken over to act as her substitute/puppet or is she a part of Beryl given form?
• When the thunderstorm showed up I was sure that it was signalling that Jupiter had arrived so it was a bit disappointing to see Beryl in the sky instead. I wonder if everyone else in Tokyo saw her image or if it was just those on the roof?
• “You didn’t know? I figured it out back when she was Sailor V.” – Endymion. Hee. This was not how I was expecting Usagi to learn the truth. I love his shock that she didn’t know but of course he’d say it in a pretty jerky way. That is so him. I do like that he figured it out himself.
