My Princess Episodes 5 - 8 Thoughts
Sep. 2nd, 2011 10:37 pmEpisode 5
• Butterfly, seriously? Landing on her shoulder and then it flying into the palace ahead of her. In winter. I loved the expressions on everyone’s faces.
• Da Bok asking permission to hug her daughter was sad.
• Hae Young losing all his money and possessions is just – stupid and ridiculous in a bad way. How does that even work? He has a job separate from his family’s business and presumably he makes money at it. Losing the apartment makes sense (since his grandfather is mad at him), same with the car but all his clothes and shoes and everything else in the apartment what? I can accept a lot of things but unfortunately I’ve hit a wall here because Hae Young suddenly being completely destitute annoys me a lot. Also gifts are gifts regardless of how big they are. How can they be taken away?
• Ack I couldn’t watch the store encounter.
• I thought the accident was badly done mainly because it didn’t really look like much of an accident. The fact that she thought she could cover her hospital stay, and then managed to do it, annoyed me. Her sending Geon to cover for her was silly but I couldn’t be amused by it because I was spending that time wonder how the hell they hadn’t managed to notice her gone yet. I did like her willing to leave once someone else had need.
• I really liked Hae Young nursing her back to health. He even stayed up all night. Why he felt it necessary to change her clothes though...
• I love that she’s getting all mad at him for changing her into a robe and yet she still eats the spoon of porridge he gives her. Angrily. Heee.
• I’d really like to see Seon become friends with her court ladies. Sadly there is a notable lack of female friendships in this series and I’m missing them.
Episode 6
• I loved the twist of Hae Young being brought in to teach her etiquette – ridiculous but amusing.
• The bedroom antics between Seon and Hae Young are why I like this series. That scene was very fun and they’re adorable together.
• I loved Hae Young’s jealousy – his expression when she said ‘professor’ in her sleep (and then dumping her in the fountain lol) and ordering her not to speak about other men in front of him.
• I can’t believe that there isn’t more press attention focused on Seol. They should be investigating her life at school and talking to her friends and her ‘friends’.
• “Whether you walk out on your own or whether we drag you out, don’t you think you should leave the palace? There are a lot of people who hate you.” – Yoon Ju. Wow. Just... wow.
Episode 7
• Seon/Hae Young were cute and wonderful this episode. I loved the car scene and him refusing to let her out until she tells him the truth. Her bringing him milk was sweet. Drunk Seol was adorable. The final scene was excellent. I loved her confessing that he wasn’t her ‘most hated enemy’ and then using her purse strap to haul him close so she could kiss his cheek. Her big grin afterwards was so cute. I loved how torn and tortured Hae Young was in this scene and him kissing her was great.
• “I’m used to not having anyone protect me. I was an orphan, you know.” – Seon. Um, I’m sure her mother would be interested to hear that.
• I’m scared so I’ll keep it short.” Hee. Oh, Seon. You’re not supposed to confess being afraid to the person you’re afraid of!
• Seol’s freedom to run around both inside the palace – how do they keep losing track of her? – and outside the palace – no one ever notices her and she never has guards or attendants – is ridiculous. It really bugs me.
• The fact that Seon’s father was forced into being a wanderer and never allowed to put down roots because he was afraid of Hae Young’s father is unexpected and really interesting.
• The dinner between the four of them was great. The sniping was awesome. Hae Young’s “then do mine too” made me laugh. I want more scenes like this.
Episode 8
• “I’m human too. ... I’m so hurt I can’t look at your face.” I really like how Seol and her mother’s relationship was dealt with. Da Bok isn’t just turning her back on her daughter – she’s dealing with the pain of the seeming betrayal but she also thinks it might be best for Seol to feel distance from her adopted family.
• Isn’t it the court ladies job to be with the princess at all times? I think I missed something with regards to Yoon Ju’s job description because it surprised me that she could order the court ladies around like that and that she could have so much say in what Seol could do. Shouldn’t Seol as the princess have more power?
• I want Seol to take Yoon Ju down so hard. The speech to the staff was a good start but I want a lot more. I really hope this is the start of Seol being more forceful and confident.
• “Then give up being a princess. If you give it all up, you can return…to your family…and to me.” !! I wasn’t expecting that. Great scene and I love that afterward he was going to go to her because he just can't bear it when she's in pain.
• Mi So is great. I loved her defending Seol. This is something I’ve been wanting. Why aren’t more of the attendants like her?
• This episode had a lot of complimenting of Seol. Jung Woo told Yoon Ju that ‘everywhere she visits becomes brighter’ (aww), Hae Young told her she was beautiful (in a slightly roundabout way), and someone says (I didn’t note who) that “she has a way of making the people around her joyful”
