'Marko Jankowics' (No. 58)

This was my favourite episode thus far this season.

After 6 episodes of not really feeling Liz's urgency we finally got a little ramp up in 6x07 and then suddenly in this episode all hell breaks loose and Liz is kidnapping people and running around killing people and I feel like I need to take a break and catch my breath.

+ Liz and Ressler as partners is pretty fun. With a impressive body count, yikes, but fun. I enjoyed it a lot. Maybe he can become her Dembe! The Liz/Ressler car conversation was great. I loved her teasing him and her amusement at him hiring a girlfriend from Alter Ego.

+ Katerina helped Red to take over Raymond Reddington's life, huh! I love this twist on the story. Did she also help him decide on his criminal mastermind path? What was the plan here - to eventually take down the Cabal? Timeline-wise she went into the sea at Cape May in 1990, I believe, so that means she survived that (faked her death) and Red knew about it. And yet he is currently sure that she is dead.

I mentioned in a previous episode review but I hoped this means we'll get some answers to Dembe's 'Liz will never forgive you for what you did to Katerina'. I wonder if post-faked death Katerina was going to collect Masha, and leave Red to the scheming, but he somehow gets her killed? Thus explaining part of his devotion - he took Liz's mother from her and has never forgiven himself.

Though I'm not sure how all of this equals up to Liz still being in danger, post-Cabal take down. I want some answers on that too.

+ I was honestly surprised by Jennifer bowing out. We saw some of her hesitance in the last episode but she was so gung-ho in the beginning, and seemingly hated Red so much that I did not see her deciding to nope out coming. It makes sense in the context of the episode - after what she went through and saw I can see why she would feel the need to stop. Plus she knows Liz will carry on. But in the wider context I'm a little confused about why the show brought her on in such a prominent supporting role in Liz's journey if they were simply going to write her out like this? It makes me wonder if there is more going on.

+ I liked Liz and Jennifer's goodbye. I liked Jennifer's 'I'm sorry' and the hug and Liz promising to find her when it ends. I hope for Liz's sake that Jennifer stays away relaxing till everything is over.

+ I loved Aram wandering in to tell Liz and Ressler about his crazy weekend. That was the perfect cap to their storyline.

+ "Elizabeth knows." I love how Red said that. Also he used Elizabeth instead of Liz or Lizzie which is interesting.

+ So does Red know that Liz knows he's not her father, or does he still think that secret is still kept? Cause he knows that she's investigating his life pre-surgery but then there's nothing inherent in that that would indicate she knows the truth of the bones.

+ So... hmm, okay this is maybe weird but I really wish that it was Liz who had cut into Alexandria's stomach. For all that Liz was running around doing things she still somehow ended up taking a less active role than Ressler in a way that keeps happening and irritates me so much. Like I am getting actively aggravated about this. So in this episode it's Ressler who takes the lead in figuring out who the guard she shot is even though nothing he does is something she couldn't have done. (He didn't go to the Task Force like maybe expected.) He's the one who convinces her to go to Red. And then she waits for him to cut out the drug bag instead of immediately doing it herself because... why? He has no more skills in that respect than her. It bugs me.

+ Red is so bad about pretending to care about Jennifer.

+ I liked the combination of Red telling Dembe he would have done it himself (re: killing Marguerite, which poor Marguerite and her dog) and then Red preceding to kill someone himself.

+ I'm so glad that Liz told Ressler the entire truth so soon and it wasn't dragged out with him covering for her without actually knowing anything.

+ Liz (and Ressler) didn't seem particularly bothered by the fact that she killed someone. For all she knew he was just some poor bodyguard trying to protect a client before they learned about the drug connection but she didn't seemed bothered at all.

+ Why wouldn't Liz have cleaned off her bloody hands better before wandering around in public?

+ Actually why didn't Liz flash her FBI badge at Mauguerite to get her into the car instead of going straight to the gun? Then if it doesn't work pull the gun on her.

+ I don't buy that guy getting the best of Dembe during their scuffle.

+ The bugs were so gross.
