Blood and Water

+ I loved the opening scene. It was a dream but also felt like a momentary glimpse of a 'what if' where Ellis had lived and it was great seeing her and Maggie interacting.

+ I loved the closing scene. Maggie entering gently guiding Amelia ahead of her and the comforting touch to her shoulder, Jackson immediately going into the kitchen all "I'm cooking" because apparently he's temporarily living there until his apartment is fixed (yay, I love when the Grey house is full. I want lots of domestic scenes now), the hint at Mere having an amazing idea and her sisters' intrigue, and especially I love the way that Meredith puts away her work to comfort Amelia, as Maggie pours them all some wine. Love it. We needed more scenes with these three this season.

+ I'm very excited about Meredith and her doing potentially ground-breaking medical innovation. She's become a very big deal as a doctor, which I love, but now I want, need, to see that which we haven't tons this season. Her breaking the surgery record was great but then she missed out on Catherine's surgery. I want her to do something amazing again. To at least be striving for excellence. So this is good. If she brought Maggie and Amelia in to work with her that would be great too. Especially Maggie. She already helped Mere at the beginning and them being sister 'coming out' makes me really want Ellis's two brilliant surgeon daughters to work together to create something amazing.

+ I loved this exchange:

Meredith: Well, Ellis came to me last night in a dream and gave me the answer to something. I just don't know the question.
Maggie: Huh, Ellis got into my head this morning, too.
Meredith: Did she give you the question?

So clearly Ellis didn't literally give Meredith a clue to some breakthrough, this is Meredith's mind/subconscious giving her information that she already had. Except we've seen Ellis's ghost before so what if this show was a slight bit more into the magical realism and it was Ellis communicating with Meredith? What if Mere and Maggie were both haunted by their mom and together they created medical miracles, or idk, solved crimes? I would absolutely be down for that.

+ Nice first Meredith/Alex scene. I loved her refusing to go to his office and teasing him about not being chief soon. I like that he doesn't even blink at her saying Ellis gave her an idea. I also kind of love that he completely failed to understand what she was getting at with her serious expression and hinting and her exasperation with him.

+ "This woman of yours, she is beyond you. Andrea. even I have heard of Meredith Grey, all the way back home. She is more than a beauty, she is brilliance." - Mr. DeLuca. She's my fav so I do love when people acknowledge how great she is.

+ It looks like there might be a competition of some sort coming up between the De Luca's womb and Meredith's disease detecting vitamin, even though they have nothing to do with each other, but perhaps for funding (?), and that could be interesting.

+ I really appreciate that Meredith told DeLuca the truth about urging Carina to tell Alex. She didn't have to but it was the right and more mature choice, and after the nonsense with Linc, it was nice to see.

+ I didn't even realise that the truth about Maggie's parentage was completely unknown. I just assumed that everyone at the hospital knew that Meredith was her sister and Richard her father, and thus that it was just generally known. Is it really that much of a scandal? I did enjoy how she absentmindedly went off into her tangent about her bio family without realising what it meant and then her 'ooooo, damnn' reaction when they asked her about it, heh.

+ The directing during the Meredith/Maggie scene was so distracting. There were other scenes that were meh as well but that was the worst.

+ Owen is such a dick. Literally his every scene with Amelia only confirms that she is making the right choice in breaking up with him. The way he refuses to accept blame, the way he keeps trying to turn it back on her and lashes out at her makes me want her to tell him to fuck off. It's really toxic, he did it with Cristina, he keeps doing it with Amelia. They were at times very cute earlier this season, I liked them!, and when things were going well it was good but as soon as things fall a little bit apart it somehow ends up with Owen lashing out at Amelia, saying something hurtful. I really hope they never get back together. And saying that, I think Amelia also made the right choice is giving up Leo too.

+ "They're sleep depriving sticky little monsters. ... But they also think everything you say is hilarious. And when they lie their head on your shoulder everything seems right." - Jackson. Yeah, that's pretty much 100% right.
