Shining Inheritance Thoughts
Jul. 10th, 2010 07:10 pmEpisode 21
• It’s too bad that I don’t ship Eun Sung/Hwan more because this was an excellent episode for them and that last scene in particular was wonderful. Hwan following her after she takes off (and after he asks/demands for her to have nothing more to do with Joon Se because he wants her) and then comes right out and says “I believe you. I love you. I want you.” Nothing else matters. And then going up and pulling her into a kiss... it was a great scene. I would be squeeing like crazy if I shipped them. It’s actually what made me realise that I don’t really – the build up to them has been good and I like them well enough – but the lack of squee for that scene pretty much confirmed that I don’t actually ship them. Huh.
Episode 25
• I have to shake my head at Tae Soo using Joon Se as proxy for all the stocks. He basically put the fate of the whole plan in his son’s hands. His son who he has a strained relationship with, who disagrees fundamentally with him, and a son who has already gone against him (with regards to Eun Sung). Why would he take the chance? It’s not just a simple takeover bid – it was his whole life! That is a hell of a lot of trust to put in Joon Se.
• Why didn’t he give Sung Hee the money for the stocks instead? Tae Soo and Sung Hee are both pretty terrible people but they’re kind of a good couple. I think I’d be fine if they found happiness together. When Tae Soo told her that she had nothing to do with the plan and that he would be taking all the blame I think she was honestly moved. I don’t think anyone has done something like that for her before.
• I also continue to feel for Sung Hee because of her overwhelming love for Seung Mi whom I am also feeling sorry for despite all the bad things she has done. I’d like to think that her finding Eun Woo will be her turning point and she will make the right decision here but I’m doubtful.
• “The things I do for the girl I love I don’t want them returned to me as a form of repayment. The things I did for you I did because I wanted to. I don’t expect anything in return so don’t feel burdened.” – Joon Se. He’s really reminding me of Ji Hoo. Joon Se is the opposite of The Nice Guy. It sucks that he isn’t going to get to be happy.
- I really liked that Eun Sung and Hwan realised want a wonderful person he was and felt for him. I liked Eun Sung’s monologue to Hwan about what Joon Se was to her, especially: “During my most difficult times he was always there.”
• I like that Eun Sung turning down the inheritance is about her wanting to pursue her own dreams.
Episode 26
• The Sung Hee/Eun Sung scene was wonderful. Despite Sung Hee’s horribleness everything really is all about her to daughter to her. She feels like she broke Seung Mi as a child (by not getting out of the relationship with Seung Mi’s father soon enough) and is determined to save her daughter. I just can’t hate her and when things blow up so horribly in her face in the next episode I’m going to feel sad for her.
• I loved Eun Sung saying all her goodbye. Her scene with grandmother was wonderful and Eun Sung and Hwan on their date were pretty adorable.
• I wish we could have gotten something more with Joon Se and Hye Ri. It would have been nice if that passport scene between the girls had been a little longer and we could have seen the same affection between the two of them that we saw between Eun Sung and Sook Ja. I wanted a hug.
• I don’t buy that Hye Ri wouldn’t recognise Eun Sung’s father immediately. Maybe I would have bought it if we hadn’t learned not too long ago that he paid for Hye Ri to go to school but with that information no way.
• I’m curious about why Sung Hee’s guy didn’t tell Eun Woo that he was bringing him to see his mother/sister? I mean it’s both the truth and the obvious way to get him to go along with things. I also wonder why Sung Hee didn’t just pick him up herself considering how everything was resting on her getting Eun Woo and catching her flight.
