Episode 27

• I know that Sung Hee and Seong Mi are the villains of the show, and they have done some really horrible things, but I can’t help but feel sorry for them. Even as Eun Sung and the others got righteously mad at Sung Hee and Seong Mi I felt myself feeling more for the villains of the story than their victims. The scene where Eun Sung was going to hit Sung Hee had so many layers because that must have been a horrible flashback for Seung Mi and Sung Hee.

- Everyone seems to consider Sung Hee ‘abandoning’ Eun Woo as the worst thing she did but I don’t actually agree. I’m actually kind of on her side on that issue – she couldn’t keep him or give him to Eun Sung because it would ruin everything for her so instead she took him somewhere where she knew he would be safe.

- I also agree with what she said about Pyung Joong not loving her daughter as much and putting her always second, though I understand in many ways why (after all she’s his step-daughter, of course his daughter would take precedence). I don’t understand why Seung Mi wasn’t sent away to school as well.

• I really hope Sung Hee doesn’t end up committing suicide. Up until this episode I figured that Seung Mi would be the one most likely to give up in that way. But then in this episode Seung Mi for the first time railed against her mother and basically said she wished Sung Hee wasn’t her mother, and considering how Sung Hee’s life revolves around her daughter more than anything, I can see that being the thing to push her over the edge. If she thought she’d lost her daughter what else would she have? I understood Seung Mi’s freak out on her mother but it made me really feel for Sung Hee more than anything. It’s been her love for her daughter that’s made me continue to see point of view. But of course Seung Mi didn’t mean it, even as she did, and Sung Hee dying would destroy her. I can’t believe she can’t see that.

• On a more positive note I’m glad that things are finally coming together for Eun Sung because she really does deserve it.

• I love that Sook Ja introduced herself to Eun Sung’s father as Eun Sung’s grandmother. It made me aww.

Episode 28

This episode was very good at tying up loose ends and it gave the series a nice ending. It did leave a lot of things open – Joon Se and Jung and Hye Re and others – and well at first it bothered me because I was expecting some closure it doesn’t bother me now.

• I love that Eun Sung decided to return to school in the States to finish her education and pursue her dream and that Hwan decided to stay in Seoul to be with his grandmother. That was perfect.

• I like also that Sook Ja decided to give all her shares spread equally between all her employees instead of to Hwan. It just fit better.

• Hwan/Eun Sung were adorable. Hwan teaching Eun Woo how to scare off other guys made me laugh.

• Eun Sung and Joon Se’s goodbye was sad and subdued but really the best that they could get. And Joon Se remains the classy guy he’s always been. I’m choosing to believe that while working together on the cruise ship Joon Se and Hye Re fall in love.

• I’m glad that the truth about Hwan’s father’s death came out because it’s been bothering me that Hwan didn’t bring it up with his grandmother once she was out of the hospital.

• I love Eun Sung and Hye Ri agreeing to travel together in the future.

• I like that TPTB had In Young apologise to Eun Sung, and honestly and sincerely at that, and that the girls made up. In Young was a minor supporting character and her relationship with Eun Sung was minor as well, comparatively, but I was really happy that this scene happened.

• I thought for sure that the episode was going to fast-forward at the end to a couple years later mostly because we don’t actually learn what Sook Ja put in her new will and I thought for sure we’d find out what was in it.

• Seung Mi begging her mother not to leave her, to live for her because she needed her, made me cry. Them breaking down in each other’s arms was powerful. The whole scene was painful and so sad. It was an excellent performance by both actresses. I loved them separately taking the blame for everything in order to protect the other person.

- I was really happy that they got an end as well, or rather, a new beginning. Seeing their new life in the small village – Seung Mi a teacher and Sung Hee working for a florist was nice but especially I loved them walking down the road to their home hand in hand, that it’s something they do every day, and that both of them found some happiness/peace. It feels strange to say but the Seung Mi/Sung Hee relationship is actually one of my favourites of the series. It’s right up there with the Eun Sung/Sook Ja relationship.

• I am glad that Eun Sung and Pyung Joong didn’t forgive Sung Hee and Seung Mi because they did a lot of unforgivable stuff but I’m also really glad that they also didn’t try to get revenge.

• I was kind of hoping for Joon Se’s father, Tae Soo, to track down Sung Hee and for them to get together.
