Roswell, New Mexico 1x05 Thoughts

+ I don't buy that Isobel actually killed the girls. I feel like there's some further twist here. Max and Michael thought it was Isobel and so covered it up but I think it was probably another alien. This show's version of Nasedo? Perhaps the blackouts were because someone was mind-controlling her? (Which makes you really wonder about the most recent one.) Max was very shocked by the hand-print on Rosa probably because that isn't a power Isobel has (I assume).
+ This episode finally gave me everything I wanted from Max/Isabelle. I loved the scene of Max and Michael finding Isobel in the field and the way Max cradled her to him. I loved the Max/Michael/Isobel afterwards - Isobel's joking about not caring if Michael turned himself in, the mindwipe reveal and Michael defending Isobel and himself. "Do you know what got me out of bed in the morning? How much I loved you two." The fact that Max was completely willing to go on the run with the two of them rather than let Michael turn himself in.
I love how "love" is brought up with regards to Isobel - "the people we love" from Michael, and Liz's "the person you love most in the world". I'm so glad that all the secrets between them are now out and I actually can't wait to see how this plays out. Max is pissed (with reason) but now that Isobel knows the truth and Noah's left her she is going to be devastated and it'll be interesting to see what takes precedence.
+ Max basically leading Liz to the truth and then confessing that Isobel killed Rosa, when Isobel didn't even know herself as far as he knew (!), and even though literally an episode ago (what days??) he was regretting telling Liz the truth and panicking over it made me go "really Max?" Dude. What the fuck?
+ Max's obsessive love for Liz is still not working for me. Him being unhappy for the last 10 years because Liz didn't say goodbye was too much. It also doesn't help that we get a lot of Max getting angry at Michael and Isobel (understandable this episode though he really seriously needs to learn to control his temper, if any one in that family needs goat yoga it's Max) but we don't see him getting angry at Liz, even though she told Kyle the truth about him putting him and his family in danger. There's a mismatch there where Liz can do no wrong that isn't immediately forgiven that rubs me the wrong way.
+ I love that Liz was saving herself, and doing a great job of it, before Max showed up.
+ It's interesting that Isobel went with the truth with Noah - that she had a secret but couldn't tell him - instead of an easier lie.
+ Interesting that Max and Isobel have a psychic connection with each other but neither of them have one with Michael. I wonder why?
+ They really should have had Max and Liz get away before the police randomly showed up because the hospital allowing Max to walk out with a gunshot wound is simply too unbelievable. Actually what they should have done is used this to create drama/a cliffhanger of "oh no is Max going to be revealed as an alien?" and then they could have used Kyle and the fact that he is both in the know and a doctor to cover it up. Either way would have worked vastly better than we got.
