Ant-Man and the Wasp Thoughts
Apr. 22nd, 2019 10:32 pmI liked it.
While there were things I loved more about this one [WASP!] I think I liked the first one more overall. That said I still found this one really enjoyable.
+ I thought it was interesting that this movie was pretty much entirely about saving Janet, with some side hiccups and that's it. It was a very narrow-focused and intimate goal unlike basically any other superhero movie I can think of. All the antagonist were similarly narrow focused. It threw me a bit because I kept waiting for bigger stakes to arrive - Ghost interfering could destroy the world or something. But nope. All about saving Janet.
+ Scott and Cassie are freaking adorable. I love their relationship. That opening theft sequence was so much fun. I feel like Scott has 'Best MCU Dad' in the bag.
+ I loved Wasp. She was amazing.
+ Really interested in Janet's new powers and how things have changed for her. "This place changes you. Adaptation is part of it but some of it is evolution." - what does that mean?! Actually I'm just really interested in Janet. She survived there for 30 years! I love that she figured out how to save herself (and then was instrumental in doing so). She's great and I want to learn more about her.
+ Luis was fun as always.
+ I liked Agent Jimmy Woo a lot. He and Scott had a good repartee. I liked that he genuinely seemed to like Scott, his interest in Scott's magic tricks and I loved him asking Scott out.
+ Everyone's freak-out at Ghost's sudden appearance during the interrogation scene was so amusing.
+ I loved the little glimpses we got of Scott's relationship with Maggie and Jim. They were all so great.
+ I wonder why Janet aged in the Quantum Realm? It makes more sense to me that she wouldn't.
+ The seagull eating all the ants made me go 'oh no' but also laugh. Especially when Scott called them murderers.
+ The laptop drive-in theatre at the end was a great idea.
