True Blood 1x03 - 1x06 Thoughts

- Bill just sitting there watching them and waiting until the last moment, till she’s just about to be bitten before he intercedes... what was that about? Cause it was kind of a dick thing to do. It almost seemed as if he was trying to scare Sookie off but I don’t think that’s it (he’s already too into her). So was it to show her the dangers of vampires? Was he waiting to see if she could get out of it herself? Was it a test?
- I love how self-aware Tara is of herself and how well she knows Sookie.
- I was surprised that the dog wasn’t Sam. Is it a werewolf? Its interest in Sookie – does Sam send it off to watch over her?
- I couldn’t watch the Jason/Dawn scenes but I loved her reaction to his meltdown. That she refused to let him be in control and refused to let him force her to have to deal with him. It sucks that she ended up dead because I was really liking her. So far this show has had six deaths and most of them (four) have been women and they’re the ones we get to see and I do not like that trend.
1x04 ‘Escape from Dragon House’
- Our first look at Eric was excellent. I can’t wait to see more of him. For whatever reason him commanding “Tell me you aren’t an undercover cop.” really worked for me. I love his intensity.
- It was very interesting to see Bill’s dark side, or perhaps better stated his ‘otherness’ his vampire-ness, let out there right in front of Sookie. Though I suppose him standing back when she went to his house in the previous episode was a moment very similar. Does he not realise that he scares Sookie and this will only make it worse? Does he like it?
- The cop was held by Bill’s gaze, his glamour, but he was well aware of what was happening and didn’t forget after they drove away which I found interesting.
- It was nice to see where Tara’s crush on Jason began, with him ‘saving’ her from her mom when they were kids, because up until this point it’s seemed to be all about her finding him hot and I knew there had to be something more.
1x05 ‘Sparks Fly Out’
- You know if ever episode follows directly after the one before it, as every episode so far has done, this is going to be another Lost situation. I do like to see movement in time during shows, especially with romantic relationships.
- Jason continues to be the least interesting character on the show.
- pretty sad that Adele’s dead. She was great. Poor Sookie. I loved how close they were and what a loving relationship they had.
1x06 ‘Cold Ground’
- This was a wonderful Sookie/Tara friendship episode. This was an wonderful Tara episode – I love her concern and love for Sookie and I loved her little rant to her mother about how Adele was more her mother than she ever was (and in between the lines how much she loved Adele). I’m hoping that Tara moves in with Sookie now. I’d actually thought that Sookie’s house would have been the first place she’d gone. But with Adele gone now that house is way too big for one person and I really want them to be roommates. Plus it would get her away from her mother and the relationship between them is also so well done but painful to watch especially for Tara’s sake.
- Tara/Sam could be sweet, could work well, if only he wasn’t in love with her best friend.
- So did Sookie dream the attack or did Bill? Did they share it? Or did it actually happen but for some reason the attacker let her live? I found Bill/Sookie fairly sweet this episode especially when he went running to save her, was so gentle with her and then watched over her as she slept. His panic when he woke thinking she was being murdered but helpless to act to help her was really well done. I loved also the end with her running to him and him waiting, feeling her come.
- He and the dog seemed to get along much better this episode – truce or slowly becoming allies if not friends?
- Jason is my least favourite character (at least of the couple ‘main’ ones) but I felt for him a lot this episode. Especially at the funeral when he chased Sookie down and tried to connect to her, not realising how much he’d just hurt and betrayed her because no one ever told him the truth about Uncle Bartlette and then at the very end where he retreats to what he always does – sex – but it does nothing to ease his pain or loneliness.
