Strong Girl Bong-soon Episode 2 Thoughts
Sep. 8th, 2019 03:08 pm+ Bong-soon/Min-hyuk are excellent together. I'm continuing to enjoy the Min-hyuk -> Bong-soon aspect of their relationship. He seems so charmed by her and I love it. I love all the little hidden smiles he gets over her - like his quick grin when she got in his vehicle or how pleased he was every time she cheered him on with the drone or his amusement over her continued misuse of words. Their bickering in his car after the hospital was fun. I loved how sincere he was in asking her to stay at his place - "I'll protect you and you will protect me", but of course he has to immediately follow it up by being an ass.
+ Min-hyuk's great. I loved his reveal that as a child he wanted to grow up to be a criminal (lol), his unashamed fascination with the crime and his pretty spot on understanding of the criminal/crime based just on what had been in the news was great and I liked how quickly he caught onto something wrong with Detective Choi.
+ I'm guessing on what we got this episode that Min-hyuk's father is a criminal of some kind, rich and powerful, and Min-hyuk is currently trying to live a legal and aboveboard life.
+ The murder/kidnapper case is creepy and well done but what I especially like is that it's not taking over the humour of the show. I really hope the show manages to keep this balance going forward because if this show goes dour I'm going to be so sad.
+ "He's handsome. He is my type. ... I like the good-looking police officers." - Min-hyuk. !! Wait, what. Um. I know it's not happening but I would so be there for bi Min-hyuk. What was with the little eyebrow wiggle?? Is he flirting with Bong-soon by implying he likes guys? I don't even know but I am here for it. I love that later he doesn't even blink let alone protest when she states that her sources say he doesn't like girls.
+ I loved Bong-soon making sure to get double pay for staying at Min-hyuk's (priorities!) and how that was balanced with her having a genuine moment at the hospital where she affirmed to Min-hyuk that she would protect him (and take her job as his bodyguard more seriously.)
+ I loved Guk-doo reassuring Bong-soon that it wasn't her fault. Based on Guk-doo's much lighter attitude with her and overt concern I feel like his terseness in the first episode was entirely down to his upset/worry that she got herself in trouble with the gang (trouble he couldn't help her out of.) I liked him making sure she was protected.
+ I'm very pleased with the introduction of Bong-soon's best friend (?) Kyung-shim. I love them being into gaming and that she knows Bong-soon's secret.
+ I loved the walnut shop visit. Bong-soon's wink and slight head-shake at her dad and him returning it and going along with her was pretty adorable.
+ I liked Ms. Hwang more this episode. Her "nobody's perfect" reaction to being told Min-Hyuk was gay (and everyone's reactions to that) made me laugh. She was sweet with Kyung-shim in away we hadn't seen her be with anyone else.
+ I loved Bong-soon's long-suffering sigh when she decided to help the bullied student. If she does this regularly though you'd think she'd be a lot more well-known in her neighbourhood.
+ So was it the stalker who stab Detective Choi, which is a massive escalation, and if so why? Did he think Choi was Min-Hyuk's new bodyguard and it was a warning? But then why not stab Min-hyuk himself?
+ The way the kidnapper looked back at Bong-soon after they bumped into each other was interesting. Was it because he recognised her or was he considering her as a new bride?
