Strong Girl Bong-soon Episode 8 Thoughts
Sep. 11th, 2019 07:07 pm+ I'm curious about why Bong-soon's pink hoodie has as much significance for her as it does Min-hyuk. Was that the first time she used her powers to save people? Or considering her grandmother's letter as she retrieved it perhaps it was both the first and last time. I could see a situation where she saves them, proudly tells her family only for them all to come down hard on her for it and promising to not draw attention to herself like that again?
+ Bong-soon/Min-hyuk continue to be lovely. I loved that he took her to his mother's grave and I liked how their talk afterwards about friends and becoming more was about Guk-doo and about them.
+ Holy wow did I hate that Mrs. Hwang/Mr. Do scene. Part of the reason I disliked her so much in the first episode was because of how terrible she was to him and while I've softened on her in general she's continued to be mean and inconsiderate towards him, and now this? How were we supposed to take her giving him a black eye and split lip? Like, is this supposed to be comedy? haha she beats her husband? Because no. This show has comical violence and violence where the seriousness is definitely waved away but this moment did not fit for me. The fact that this happened because he finally stood up for himself and tried to leave is very :( for me. She is a bully and abusive asshole towards him and he seriously needs to leave her.
+ "Don’t touch my kids again." Aww! She is their boss. I like how she's reluctantly taken responsibility for them. I do so enjoy these little high school gang interludes. I love how much they believe in her and the way the ran behind her crying 'Boss' as soon as she showed up to help them.
+ It was nice to see how much Bong-soon has changed and grown in her fights because of her training sessions with Min-hyuk.
+ Bong-ki and Mr. Do's shared confusion over Mrs. Hwang being kind to Bong-soon amused me.
+ I loved Kyung-shim now calling Min-hyuk "your son-in-law", heh. I like how much she's a part of their family and her and Bong-soon's friendship. I loved her dancing with Mr. Do in celebration.
+ The show keeps saying there are four victims/crimes which is simply wrong. There was #1 who was accidentally killed, #2 who was kidnapped from the hospital, #3 who was taken from the bar under the guise of a designated driver, #4 Kyung-shim (who is still free), and #5 the Pharmacist taken on the way to her prayers. Are they not counting Kyung-shim because she neither died nor was captured?
+ Guk-doo running off, based on information that he might not have shared with his colleagues, without telling anyone where he was going was dumb. Why didn't his boss send one of the others after him? It didn't go wrong this time but one day it will.
+ The kidnapper bugging the police was very clever. I like when bad guys are actually competent. So his plan was to hurt his first bride and then 'save' her in order to get access to the police station as a witness but it went wrong on his first try when he accidentally killed her.
+ How dumb are Boss Tak and his goons? They know how strong she is, have seen her in action, have seen the consequences and yet are still so arrogant and sure of their victory? Without even bothering to bring weapons? Dudes.
