Happy Death Day 2U

I liked it more than the first one.
+ I loved the beginning with Ryan caught in his own loop.
+ I liked that Ryan's machine was the cause of the loop. I wasn't sure of the whole alternate dimension idea at first but I ended up loving it. I liked that it let her find closure with not only her mother but also Lori.
+ Tree's emotional angst being framed as a choice between staying in a universe where her mother is alive or return to her universe and relationship with Carter was kind of meh for me. It's her mother! Carter's argument for why Tree shouldn't/couldn't stay was really great, and I loved that scene between them, and I wish that had been more of why she was torn.
+ I liked the Tree/Lori moment though I wish Tree's advice had been framed more as "you deserve better" than "be a better person". Still it was sweet especially considering where their relationship ended in Tree's universe and I'm glad that Tree saved her in the end.
+ Wow, alternate universe Tree is going to be so confused when she returns to her life. She killed two men, granted both to save Lori, but it is going to be a lot to deal with.
+ Alternate!Danielle was obviously using Carter and was putting on a (bad) act of being nice but at the same time when they asked her help distract the Dean she did it, and to the point of physically assaulting him! Why would she do that? It gave her a interesting new angle I wasn't expecting. In the other universe she's with everyone else picking up garbage because you know the Dean thought she was a part of it all (because she was even if she didn't know the particulars). And I kind of want to see more of that.
+ Tree's various ways of killing herself were interesting [bikini skydiving without a parachute, sure!) but also almost uniformly horrible ways to die. She's trying to make her death less traumatising so it doesn't make sense that she wouldn't find an easier, quicker and less painful way to die.
+ I was not really a fan of the credits scene at DARPA. Tree volunteering to help them with creating another time loop didn't work for me (she hates them) nor did her volunteering Danielle or DARPA actually using it against her. It's supposed to be a light fun end note but it broke my suspension of disbelief too much.
+ Gregory and his wife being the killer(s) felt rather half-assed.
