Nikita 2x05 & 2x06 Reviews

• Oh, Nikita, no. I really, really hope that Nikita doesn’t keep Max being Michael’s son a secret. Hasn’t she learned her lesson with Alex? I mean the last episode directly dealt with her keeping secrets! Kelly called her out for it, Nikita acknowledged that true partners don’t keep secrets and apologised for doing it to Alex... learn from your mistakes, Nikita! I will not be happy if she says nothing.
• Sean getting in Amanda’s face pissed me off. I can understand Amanda accepting Alex’s backtalk – she’s trying to get Alex’s loyalty – and I can understand everyone else not thinking less of Amanda for it – to everyone else it would just seem as if Alex is her favourite/protégé – but Sean? No. I don’t care if he works directly for Oversight his behaviour should get him smacked down so freaking hard. His behaviour and the way he spoke to her was beyond unacceptable. In fact Amanda needs to smack him down in order to keep her authority. One, very specific, person is her indulgence but two is too many. Her basically killing Lisa and then using Sean (and Alex) to take out a problem mitigates it but I still want her to assert her authority over him and put him in his place (if only because he pissed me off and I really want to see Amanda grind him under her heel.)
• I did like that no one moved on Sean’s orders. He may work for directly for Division’s boss agency but Amanda rules Division.
• I was a bit disappointed that Alex and Nikita/Michael didn’t meet up. I thought Alex would end up having to help them get Cassandra and Max out.
• “You guys really have to learn to turn off your comms.” – Birkoff. Hee
• Nikita was adorable with Max.
• Wait, are we supposed to think that Michael has had no sex between his family’s death and getting together with Nikita, minus the mission with Cassandra? I thought he hadn’t been in any relationships since then.

• I am really glad that Richard ended up not being Nikita’s father because that would have been a big letdown. In fact the idea left me feeling disappointed during the episode because it seemed such a waste. I’ve been attached to the idea of Madeline being Nikita’s birth mother ever since I first thought of it. I really love the idea. But despite how interesting I think it would be I doubt that it is where the show is going and I’ve accepted that. Still the truth about Nikita’s birth parents could open up so many possibilities for exciting storylines and I really want the show to go somewhere interesting with it. I was so relieved when Richard was revealed to be a Division agent.
• I’m impressed with Percy’s scheming. He really is good. So does he know who Nikita’s birth parents really are?
• “I’ve gotten into so much trouble keeping the truth from people.” – Nikita. This is why you should stop doing it! Arg! Sigh. Okay, so this is Nikita and this is her major flaw – her deep lack of trust and need to keep control. Everyone needs flaws. At least she realises now that it is a big flaw. Considering how easily she spilled the truth to Richard it’s clearly been eating her up. She gives several reasons for keeping this secret – protecting Michael, protecting Max and Cassandra, and that she didn’t want to lose Michael – but which one is the main one? What even did she think she was protecting Michael from? Having to make a choice? I feel like she wasn’t even really thinking but was caught in a spiral of fear and uncertainty. Clearly she needs to just talk these things out with Birkoff if she feels she can’t with Michael.
Still I guess if the show wanted to create tension between the two (or even break them up though I can’t see that happening) this is a believable way that makes sense for the characters. I just hope this means that Nikita has finally learned her lesson with regards to partners and truth.
• “I just feel that you’re sacrificing so much for me and I’m not doing anything for you.” – Nikita. This line annoyed me so much for a number of reasons. A) what Nikita is not doing for Michael is giving him the knowledge of his son and thus the ability to choose to give him up himself, b) Michael can’t sacrifice anything for anyone if he doesn’t even know he’s doing it, c) if Michael did decide to not be involved in Max’s life it’s still not necessarily about or for Nikita, d) beyond Max what exactly is Michael ‘sacrificing’ for Nikita here? The chance of a normal life? Michael is just as anti-Division as she is and just as committed to taking them down. He’s not doing it all for her.
• OMG, according to Nikita’s birth certificate she’s a year younger than me. That makes me feel so old.
• Alex looked fabulous all episode. I loved her church outfit.
• “Screwing Percy over is always the right choice.” – Alex. Hee.
• Nikita pulling her gun after she snuck into Richard’s house made me shake my head so much. That made no sense to me. Just instinct?
• “What’s stopping you?” – Richard. That was just stupid. He just told her that he left her because their life wasn’t conductive to having children.
• Alex warning them made me happy though I don’t think it really made that much of a difference. I mean I’m pretty sure Birkoff would have figured out the truth when he turned around to see Richard holding a gun on him. ... I suppose Richard was planning to search in private and only pulled the gun after he realised his cover was blown.
• I liked Birkoff fighting back so well. Now I’m imagining Michael and Nikita forcing him to practice hand-to-hand while he grumbles and complains about it and it’s making me smile.
• Regardless of revenge or him knowing a secret why wouldn’t Nikita have killed Richard simply because he was a Division agent? I think that’s a good enough reason in itself.
• Birkoff being all ‘I’ll contact you when our next base is set up’ instead of him complaining about Nikita almost getting him killed and how he doesn’t need that, etc made me go awww. They’re his family! He’s accepted it so much he’s moved past even bothering to deny it.
