True Blood 2x04 Review

- I liked Sookie meeting someone else with her power. I was not expecting that to happen at all, just like her actually, and it was cool. I can’t wait to see where the show goes with this. Now I’m imagining the most powerful vampires keeping these psychic humans as advisors. I wonder if Eric’s interest in Sookie would decrease significantly if he found another person with her abilities or if she’s made enough of an impression on him to keep his interest? Certainly she’s made a considerable impression on him if he’s decided to keep track of Lafayette via a blood bond because “You obviously mean something to Sookie. And what Sookie finds meaningful I find... curious.” Now that’s probably not the entire reason – him liking Lafayette probably has something to do with it too (though his expression when Lafayette was gleefully dancing around was soo bored) and other things I can’t think of – but I think it is the largest part.
- It’s interesting that while vampires have to be invited in to get in its not like TVD or BtVS, a wall around the home, and Eric can reach his hands in... that would be important to know though how does that even work? I mean, there is a part of him in the house, so I would think it would count. Does a person’s wants/desires/will play a role in things? Saying no keeps them out but unless you mean it they can still push the bounds?
- I loved Jessica standing up for herself at the beginning to Bill. Her ordering the guy at the end was amusing but was he just for blood or also for sex since she appeared to specifically order someone heterosexual. I thought she was planning to wait for that?
- I loved Sookie calling Bill on hating vampires and that it is a bad thing – both for himself and for Jessica – and her pointing out that they could help each other find a healthy/happy balance between vampire and human.
- Sookie looked gorgeous getting off that plane. Total vampire bait. Plus drunk Sookie is hilarious.
- Sookie and Bill at the hotel were kind of adorable. I’m saying it like every episode but I love them as Jessica’s parents. The progeny vs ward discussion was great. I loved Bill teaching Jessica to glamour and Sookie sitting in the background looking all proud. And when she made the guy scream at the hotel they shared this look that was such a parental look.
- I did find Sookie grinning along with Bill at him glamourising the kidnapper kind of creepy.
- Sookie continuing to make out with Bill even knowing that Eric was standing right outside the door, on the other hand, wasn’t at all creepy. That worked for me. Now if only Eric had come in the room instead of asking Bill to meet him downstairs.
- Jason’s storyline continues to bore me but the fact that the Fellowship tried to kidnap Sookie makes it a bit more interesting. Was it all about Godric or was it also about her being Jason’s sister and a fangbanger? What were they planning on doing with her once they had her? I think she is definitely going to be the reason for Jason to get out of the little cult of hate he’s found himself in but I worry about what’s going to happen before than (especially with them giving him wood bullets, and him having such great aim).
- I love the Tara/Sookie friendship and their “Love you the most.”/“Love you more.” phone exchange made me aww and really felt like it was something they say a lot. I wish we saw more of them. Sookie leaving on her birthday, when she has to know how much Tara dreads them, didn’t make me that happy. Though when Tara said later that all her birthdays have sucked I couldn’t help but think about her being a part of the Stackhouse family and how they had to have thrown her parties or otherwise celebrated her birthday with her. Did her mother and home life always interfere with that happiness?
- Why is Sookie even moving into grams room? That just doesn’t make sense to me. You can’t tell me this huge house has only two bedrooms! Why doesn’t Tara move into Jason’s old room?
- Maryann’s affectionate “You’re not really an alpha are you?” to Sam amused me.
