Spyfall, Part 1

I enjoyed this episode.

+ I was spoiled that the Master was going to show up but the reveal was still excellent and I love O!Master. He already seems like he is going to be a lot of fun. So far he's reminding me more of Simm!Master than Missy but I see both. He's so theatrical. That little twirl and flourish he did when he revealed the light aliens especially stuck out as Simm. He seems very manic too.

+ I love everything we got of the Master/Doctor. The fact that they've been texting for who knows how long is delightful to me. She 'kisses' him goodbye in her messages! If they only met once then O must have done something big to impress the Doctor (I'm sure he made sure of it) to make her so fond and trusting of him.

I loved O's expression when the TARDIS appeared. The anticipation on his face and the giant grin. It's so much better knowing who he is. A+.

I really loved "I'm her best enemy" and the look on his face as he sidled past. I am so here for this.

+ I liked his laughing "Short fuse, I can relate to that" immediately followed up by yelling at the Doctor for trying to use her sonic screwdriver on the bomb. He was so offended that she would think he would make it that easy.

+ A big question of course is: which Master is this? Post-Missy - in which case I find it sad that her regeneration apparently undid all of the Doctor's (in the end successful!) reformation attempts with her. They made so much progress!

His "Everything you think you know is a lie." and the way he said it makes me wonder if he's not a double agent of some sort? Like he isn't really against the Doctor? I don't know. Probably this is just another of his plans.

Other options: A Master regeneration from before Missy that we've never seen before. Could be interesting. Or since we got those hints of alternate realities perhaps this is a Master from a different reality? That could be even more interesting especially if they really lean into the concept. (Multiple Doctors and Masters at the same time???)

+ I very much doubt that the Master's sprinting slip-up was real. He gave that hint so he could watch her figure it out.

+ Was it Twelve that O!Master met? If it was then it was likely during that time when Twelve was stuck on Earth guarding Missy in her box which is the sort of timey-wimey stuff I love.

+ I love O!Master already but I'm so sad that Missy is gone. I really wanted to see her and Thirteen interact because it would have been so fun.

+ The Master seemed very interested in getting Graham to read what he had on the Doctor. Just what's in those files? I'm looking forward to whatever mind game he has planned.

+ The shrunken original O in a matchbox was a very Doctor Who-ish fun touch.

+ I liked the look of the weird world/place that Yaz and then the Doctor were sent too.

+ Aw, Graham worrying about Ryan (and Yaz) being safe was nice. Graham/Ryan continue to be really lovely.

+ I do enjoy Thirteen's quickly decreasing percentage (non-)reassurances.

+ Ryan panicking about picking Logan as his spy name because he doesn't look like Hugh Jackman was very endearing as was his nervous greeting to Barton and leaving the camera lens on for the first picture.

+ Is Yaz keeping Ryan's number from her sister because she likes him or because she wants to keep the two parts of her life separate?

+ I liked the Ryan/Yaz scene after her ordeal. But Ryan reassuring Yaz that he'll never let her die, while a sweet sentiment, was a completely hollow one. Only an hour before she was disappeared by aliens and he couldn't do anything, and this is a pretty common occurrence. They should be aware at this point that death is always a possibility.

+ I always love when the Doctor talks about other parts of the TARDIS we never get to see. I want to visit the rain forest floor or the boating lakes!

+ I liked C confusing Graham for the Doctor. I hadn't thought of it before but of course people who had heard of the Doctor would look at Graham (or Ryan) first.

+ Is the Master's house a TARDIS? That's what it was right? That's kind of neat.

+ I find the idea that O would be mocked for his interest in aliens weird considering how much alien activity everyone knows about. Fine, the general public immediately forgets after each invasion but the various governments don't! This should be a pretty important position in point of fact.

+ Wait, UNIT and Torchwood are completely gone? So what happened to the people who worked there? Is there a new secret alien fighting force out there? Why isn't the Doctor more interested in this?

+ Why would the Doctor go to O (who she only met once apparently) on this, even if he's MI6's alien expert, instead of say Kate Lethbridge-Stewart, or Martha and Mickey? If she can find O she can probably find them.
