I really enjoyed it.

It took me a while to really get into the book but was I was invested I was into it. I can't wait until for the sequel.

+ I love Gideon. She was delightful narrator.

+ I love that we got a character who in other novels would be the mysterious and dangerous unknown our hero reacts to and made her the POV character. A+.

+ I am very hopeful that Gideon's death isn't permanent, or at the very least the end of her. Between her continuing to survive when she shouldn't (the nerve gas mass murder, the siphoning trial), her soul in Harrow, the interest Cytherea took in her, her missing body and the still mystery of just who she was (where did her mother (?) come from, how did she survive the mass poisoning) it's seems very unlikely her story is done.

+ I kind of feel like Gideon's somehow related to the girl in the tomb.

+ I liked Harrow and the reveals about the truth about their past and her real feelings. The whole confrontation in the pool was so great. "You are my only friend. I am undone without you." Love it.

+ I liked the mix of atmosphere and humour. I loved the mysteries and twists.

+ The book really made me care about many of the secondary characters - Magnus and Jeannemary and Palamedes and Camilla - which made it suck even more when most of them ended up dying.

+ Jeannemary and Isaac’s bracketed comments to/around Magnus were delightful.

+ There were so many lines I loved. Like - "He had the eyes of a very beautiful person, trapped in resting bitch face."
