It was an fun, enjoyable romcom.

Rachel and Nick were lovely. I liked that this movie wasn't about Rachel/Nick having relationship issues, they love each other from start to finish.

The mahjong scene was wonderful. I loved that it ended with Eleanor and Rachel's mom acknowledging each other and then her and Rachel walking out arm in arm.

I loved that moment in Nick’s proposal when he reveals his mother’s engagement ring and she realises what it means.

I liked the dumpling making scene and getting to see the family being casual and loving.

Peik Lin was delightful. I loved both her and Oliver. I could have done with more of both of them. I loved the Rachel/Peik Lin friendship.

I loved Ah Ma going to the wedding with Astrid so that Astrid wouldn't have to arrive alone.

Nick not telling Rachel the truth about his family and just dropping her into everything with little warning was a pretty dick thing to do. He seemed rather in denial about it mattering but he basically dumped her into a shark tank and gave her very little help in dealing with it. Dude. If she hadn't had Peik Lin (and Oliver and Astrid) in her corner it would have sucked much more for her, and he should have been the one helping her.

Honestly, excepting Eleanor who was the designated roadblock to be overcome and the cattiness of the ex and various random people who didn't matter, everyone was actually really nice to Rachel. She got along great with both of Nick's close cousins Astrid and Oliver, she was good with his best friend and his fiance, and even Nick's grandmother was really nice to Rachel (unlike how she still behaved with Eleanor). There was no one in the family (other than Eleanor) who were terrible to her.

I loved the beginning with the text chain gossiping about Nick and Rachel, and how Eleanor called before they'd even finished dessert.

I loved Rachel bluffing her way into sitting with Princess Intan.

I wish we’d gotten a scene between Rachel and Astrid after the wedding. I loved the hand grasp before the ceremony but considering their beach scene and that Rachel was the first to learn about Michael’s cheating it felt like there was a missing scene between the two of them. Something where Astrid tells her about what Michael said and Rachel giving her her support.

I loved Astrid refusing to accept Michael’s blame for his cheating and their marriage failing.

I liked how the second proposal scene played out. Nick helping others as he proposes (that was a great character moment), the grumpy lady getting so invested, the way the keep walking down the aisles as they talk. But I wish the first one had played out differently to make it a contrast. The first one was also just Nick, opening up in a simple proposal, whereas I feel like it should have been this big expensive production instead.

I was really pleased when it seemed like ex Amanda was going to genuinely nice but then nope, we get the expected bitchy ex instead, and it was disappointing.
