God Friended Me 2x20 Thoughts

+ Miles as a prophet (and Joy) would be a neat fic idea to explore but was not something I wanted to happen in show. Miles as an atheist has always been a big part of the series and while there was always the suspicion that the show might be going in the direction of Miles regaining his faith it has always been very respectful of his atheism (and of religion). Miles regaining his faith at the end makes sense to the show but still leaves me rather unhappy because I wanted him to stay atheist, to be happy in that, while still loving and respecting the religious people in his life and having their love and respect in return. That his happiness and journey was in the end all about finding his way back to the church - meh.
+ I'm glad that they got Miles and Cara back in the voiceover. Her being sure that while she loved Miles she had also moved on and didn't want to get back together made sense to me. Their breakup hurt her a lot and her not wanting to let him back in the same way is understandable. I liked that throughout the final two episodes Cara was struggling with wanting to keep that distance but not wanting to lose Miles. That said, it also seemed pretty clear that she was still in love with him and the show would have felt unfinished if they hadn't gotten back together. I'm glad that we got told at least of them going from friends to being a stronger couple.
+ I was really pleased to see Miguel again because his story was one of the most emotionally effective ones on the show, and it was nice to see him show up to help Miles.
+ Still sad that we didn't get to see Joy again.
+ I loved Ali's letter to Miles. It was lovely.
+ "Prayer is action" - eh, prayer is for the person praying, it doesn't in fact help the person being prayed for.
+ "She's been waiting for you", hmm. In the Himalayas, met by a little Buddhist monk (?) - I wonder where they were going with this, or if we were ever going to know? This finale makes it feel like it really had been all about the journey not the destination (ie: who is the god account) and actually I'm okay with that.
