+ I loved the Isobel/Michael scene. Everything about that was perfect. I loved him making the offer - "We can do the turkey baster thing. Whatever. You know." - and how casual he tried to make it. I loved "I want a family." I loved that she immediately stops him from denigrating his offer and his expression when she touches his lips. I loved how amazed she was clearly was by his offer. I loved "You would be an incredible father." because he absolutely would. I loved "Have I told you lately that I love you." and their smiles and her cuddling into his shoulder. Also "alien baby gravy" lol. Now that they’ve brought this up I want it (even though I know it's not going to happen).
+ Max and Isobel aren't genetically related! [Or well, not through their mom anyway. Or maybe they are and Louise just never talked about Max? Anyway.] That seems like a rather big reveal but the episode mostly glossed over it. I definitely appreciate on one level that it doesn't really phase Isobel and Max at all. Even beyond their cute exchange over his being her idiot brother/"I'll always be your idiot brother" the revelation mostly seemed as a basis for Max to worry about who he is and if he's a danger. It's nice that it doesn't for a second impact theIR relationship (thus far) but all the same I was expecting it to be explored even if just a little bit. Them being twins has been the cornerstone of their entire existence! It should be a big shock to them.
Max tells her "I never felt alone because I was your twin" (aww!) and that's certainly a question they need to ask. They assumed they were twins because of the connection between them, but if they're not related then why do they share that connection, and why not Michael? I really want this explored.
I am deeply annoyed that we didn't see Michael learn about this and see the three of them talk about it. Fingers crossed that he doesn't know and this a conversation that will happen in another episode because if it happens off-screen I am going to be mad!
+ So Maria is the great-granddaughter of Louise and Roy, and is 1/8th alien. And Isobel's great-niece! I loved Maria reaching out and taking Isobel’s hand to comfort her – and then them pulling immediately pulling away because “it’s weird”. This is now a relationship I'm invested in and I hope the time is spent in developing it. I also want all the jokes/teasing about it from all the aliens.
+ I loved Louise saving (and stealing?) Max from the cave he was chained up in.
+ "Maybe something evil was chasing them. Maybe that something was me." Except he was a child, in a pod. If they didn’t care, or were scared of him, they wouldn’t have taken his pod along with their children and they wouldn’t left him hidden along with them in a cave. I wish Isobel had pointed that out to him.
+ I just assumed that Louise and Nora were siblings because they were both blonde and clearly cared about each other a lot and were working together to protect their children but none of that means they had to be related.
+ So was Nora's very intense and seemingly meaningful statement that she had to protect Louise at all costs because only she could "protect the child" really just about her being pregnant. Because it really did feel like more than that. I feel like her pregnancy is a red herring and it is actually about Max.
+ Forrest wondering if Isobel was Michael's girlfriend was great. I did notice that while Michael says gross his expression didn’t really say eww to me, like Isobel’s did.
+ "I always assumed that Michael was a top" wait, seriously? In what world because certainly not this one, lol.
+ At least Isobel's sudden worry about whether she would ever be able to have children with humans was just us suddenly answered: yes.
+ I kind of love the way that Isobel casually enters Max and Michael’s homes and interrupts them making out with their girlfriends and steamrolls over everyone with no shame. I love that the first thing Michael says before he even sits up isn't complaining about her barging in but to call shotgun.
+ I’ve been enjoying Max this season but him storming off in a rage after Isobel's reveal about her pregnancy/abortion and her current worry was a return of season 1 Max I am not interested in. It was very geez, Max not everything is about your feelings maybe give her some support and stop being such a self-absorbed dick!
+ It's nice to see Jenna and Liz's friendship continuing.
+ Man, Diego’s mom must really really love Liz to help her after she ghosted her son like that. Or maybe she’s just a good person against ICE. Or a combination.
+ Diego is hot.
+ I loved the doctors and nurses standing up for their patients against ICE.
