Favourite scene:

Raven: It's a high radiation environment. Nightblood's not a guarantee but it will help.
[Clarke and Murphy simultaneously:]
Clarke: I'll do it.
Murphy: She'll do it.
[Everyone looks at him]
Murphy: What? Like that was even a question?

LMAO! I keep laughing every time I think about it. I mean, he's not wrong!

Also Murphy, Clarke, Emori and Indra walking into this scene in their all black outfits was super hot.

Russell Storyline

+ Clarke hanging out at the house at the end instead of checking in on the whole radiation situation is DEEPLY weird! Either she a) learned it was okay but didn't bother to check in with Raven/Murphy/Emori to make sure they were okay and how it went, or b) she went home without bothering to check in at all which is just ???? Neither possibility makes sense and both are wildly out of character.

In general I felt it a little surprising how separate Clarke was from the radiation storyline considering there was a possibility of a nuclear meltdown. I like that she stepped back and left it up to Raven, and trusted her completely to deal with it, but also meh. It would have ended up working if the final scene had been Clarke at medical instead of at the house.

+ I loved the scenes of Clarke and Gaia being friends and supporting each other. Both of them are grieving and I'm glad that they have someone understanding and non-judgmental to talk to (especially Clarke!) I just really appreciate what the show is giving us with them. I loved Gaia choosing to bury the Flame beside Abby's ring and them having a shared goodbye/funeral.

+ Indra continues to be great this season and I am loving Clarke/Indra and her as Clarke's second-in-command. I didn't see it coming but it makes complete sense that that's the role she'd fill - she was leader of Trikru and was Lexa's 2ic, then she was Blodreina's 2ic, of course that's what she'd be again especially as Wonkru is the base of their power.

I really liked the Clarke/Indra exchange over Russell giving a speech. It wasn't Clarke stating 'this is what we're doing', but rather her put out her support as "worth a shot" and then Indra acceded with the amendment that she'd kill Russell if he stepped out of line. It felt very equal. In general I really like how they work together. I feel like there's a lot of respect between them which is nice to see.

+ "Suddenly a nuclear meltdown doesn't seem so bad." - Indra. LOL.

+ Clarke's "Madi is not well" was interesting because since when? Nothing about her in the first episode seemed like she was suffering aftereffects from losing the Flame. Is Clarke just being hyperbolic in her protectiveness or is there something we haven't seen yet?

+ I loved Clarke immediately shutting down the possibility of having Madi coming out to order people to potentially go to their deaths. Clarke knows better than most the toll it takes on someone to do that. I love her continuing to try and protect Madi from the same thing she went through, something that she still struggles with and is haunted by. That said considering what was going on it wasn't the most practical decision she's ever made.

+ For all that Jordan is super naive his shots at Clarke and Jackson - what would my dad say/is that your medical opinion - were perfectly calculated and I was a little impressed with him.

+ I have no idea why they decided to let Russell choose his manner of death especially after he choose 'burned at the stake' because that seems dumb.

+ Did Sheidheda instigate the reactor situation? Because it seems very convenient for it to happen now after apparently working fine for over a century. It would have been a neat 'twist' if James had turned around to his girlfriend being "for the Primes" as they died.

+ I'm very curious about how many of the surviving Wonkru were once Skaikru? Cause I doubt they give a crap about the Commander. Are Trikru keeping their loyalty to Indra? I want to know more about what's happening within Wonkru.

+ I find myself hoping that Gaia is eventually proven right in telling the truth about the Flame. This is the 100 so probably not but it’d be a nice change you know?

+ I understand why the show divided the characters the way they did - and Indra claiming Clarke for the Russell situation re-emphasised her place as leader which I appreciated - but all the same it would have made more sense to have Clarke with Raven and Murphy/Emori with Russell. Everyone apparently still thinks they're Daniel and Kaylee so them being so absent from this struggle between Prime supports/haters and Russell's fate seems strange? Especially from the POV of the Prime supporters/haters. Meanwhile, Clarke deciding to take a step back from Russell would make 100% sense after her breakdown and it's not really like she made any significant choices about him, or as if the reactor needed a specialist to deal with.

+ I'm surprised that Clarke didn't use the reactor situation as an excuse to clear out Sanctum, send the various groups to different corners and get some breathing room for Earthkru.

Reactor Storyline

+ I appreciate them doing this storyline with Raven so much. I like how it was an accumulation of questionable choices rather than a simple pull a lever because that feels more in line with her character. She started off very disdainful of the prisoners because they are terrible people and she felt morally superior to them, she also didn't trust them (for obvious reasons) and because of that they didn't matter and didn't deserve the truth. If she had treated them with respect, told the truth, perhaps it could have gone better? Maybe more people would have volunteered so they could have switched them out, idk. But I can see how it got from 'eh they'll get sick but it'll be fine' to 'they're dead'.

I really felt for Raven at the end when it hit her and watching her not fighting back against Nikki was painful. Clarke has been through this before so I hope this leads to some really good Raven/Clarke bonding and Raven gets the support she's going to need.

What I really want though is Raven to not just confront this choice but to look back and acknowledge that her hands have never been clean and she's always had blood on them. Murphy tells her “welcome to the world of grey” but she's been grey this entire time! The show has seemingly ignored this because no one has confronted her about it. Raven thinking she's morally above the others? Believable, fine. All other characters believing it or going along with it, meh.

Now I'm wondering, and hoping, that maybe it'll be Murphy who finally does cause her to confront that cognitive dissonance she's been living with (ie: I can make a bomb but they set it off so they're the ones in the wrong). I'd actually love that because while Raven made the choice to lock Murphy in a radiation filled chamber it's not the first time she's been a danger to him - in 1x13 she would have killed him when she choose to shoot him and in s2 she was seriously going to trade him to be tortured and murdered for Finn's survival. Neither ended up happening but not because of any choice of Raven's (no bullet, Finn gave himself up). Murphy in turn has never confronted her with either of those because of the guilt he felt over shooting and crippling her. I'd love a scene between them talking about this.

+ "I may not be able to rely on them but you'll do anything to save your own ass." Yikes! After 6 years as family that is damn harsh! That said, Raven locking Murphy in was absolutely ruthless and I loved it. I think the situation was that either a) he’d help stop the leak in time and survive however bad it got because of his nightblood, or b) he'd die – because they failed and the reactor blew and everyone died in that case. I’m on Raven’s side here it was the right choice to make in that situation. Well, probably she could have laid this out and trusted Murphy to make the right choice instead of locking him in. It’s one thing to distrust the Eligius prisoners and lie to them but to do it to Murphy is something else. They were Spacekru for 6 years! Murphy was clearly hurt and angry and he absolutely has the right. I hope this gets addressed in the next episode.

+ Murphy/Emori were excellent. This was such a great episode for them where they got to be wonderfully in love together and the moral anchors and big damn heroes. I loved them being adorable in bed. I loved them risking their lives to save everyone. I loved their similar reactions to what was happening with Raven. I loved Murphy’s fear and worry for Emori. I loved him telling her he still wanted forever. Just – great from start to finish.

+ "Cockroach protocol in effect" - super cute!

+ Enjoyed all the Raven/Murphy/Emori goodness. Raven walking in on Murphy/Emori, an apparently common thing on the arc, just makes me want ot3 even more. All their interactions were great.

+ I loved Emori getting it done and saving the day.

+ I loved Raven roping Emori in to help her and the return of Emori as Raven's sort-of protege. I liked that it was Emori who thought to grab the radiation detector.

+ "Go do your job of being Emori's moral anchor." ....?? Murphy as a moral anchor?! I mean he pretty much always does the right thing in the end but that's not something anyone has ever accused him of being before. If anything you could maybe argue it the other way around but this line did not make sense to me.

+ I was genuinely surprised that Murphy didn't go into the room after Emori when the time started getting close and she wasn't finished.

+ "There's no making up for it." - Hatch. ... I am feeling very :[ about this because it kind of feels like foreshadowing. Like on the one hand, he's right that when you do something so terrible you can't 'make up for it' - you can only move forward and be better and do better and try and make amends. So it could simply be another treatise on doing terrible things and how you move forward afterwards.

But also - a connection was drawn between Murphy/Hatch with Hatch knowingly dying to save the person he loved/everyone, Murphy is currently swimming in guilt, Murphy did terrible things for immortality in his run from death, the repeated talk of "be the cockroach" and it's all beginning to feel like foreshadowing that maybe Murphy's fate is going to be choosing death to save his people. So :(

+ I liked Hatch and his short scene with Murphy was really good. It's too bad he died (not even just because he's the reasonable one) because that could have been an interesting relationship for Murphy. I hope the show manages to make me like Nikki as much because I don't yet.
