I enjoyed it.

I found the writing engaging. I liked the whole alternate history aspect.

I liked Elma and her POV.

I liked Elma's relationship with Nathaniel. I appreciated that there was no jealousy or resentment from him about her intelligence, he was 100% supportive of her and both loved and respected how smart she was. It was great.

I loved how the bathroom confrontation with Betty played out with Elma genuinely reaching out and putting a stop to threatening Betty and then all the women coming together to comfort Betty, and it making them a stronger group as a whole. I rather liked how the Elma/Betty relationship played out on the whole. That said, Betty not sending that letter with Helen was almost unforgivable. If she'd given it earlier could Elma have been able to see her grandmother again?

I liked how the situation with the Miltown drug played out. I love that Elma confessing, in an airy laughing way, really did seem in part because she could see Nicole about to confess and wanted to protect her.

I liked Elma's friendships with the rest of the Computers and the 99s. Helen and Nicole got the most attention and I liked both and I wish we'd spent a little more time with all of them.

I liked how Elma slowly ended up becoming a celebrity.

I liked the whole beginning when the meteorite hit.

Parker sucked but I liked how he was this thorn in Elma's side but there also ended up being genuine respect between them too. It was interesting.

I liked how when they first went to stay with the Lindholm's you see Elma inwardly wincing at their awkward failures at dealing with her being Jewish and then pretty soon after she ends up having to deal with her own unthinking bigotry about black people, and how that ends up being something she works on for the entire book.

I do wish that we'd seen a little more of the outside world and what the average person thinks especially after Elma's unexpected meeting with her childhood friend and her skeptical husband.
