Revenge 1x12 Review

• I thought Emily’s bit about not wanting to move in with a guy before marriage to honour her traditional parents’ memory was actually kind of... sloppy of her? It just seems a stupid ‘reason’ considering that Daniel is living with her. Plus they’ve been sleeping together even longer and I’m pretty sure the whole point of traditional parents hating kids moving in before marriage is that whole ‘sex before marriage’ thing.
• Declan complaining and pouting over Charlotte’s school work made me roll my eyes so much.
• Ah, Amily is in fact bisexual. I figured it. Amily kissing the girl mostly just made me smile.
• Emily and Amily bonding over their past and playing nice and working together so well was great. I want them to work together much more.
• I loved Emily taking Nolan to the shooting range.
• Emily and Nolan working together makes me so happy. At the end of their scene after Treadwell didn’t tell the truth and Emily revealed that there was more to her plan Emily smiles at Nolan and he grins back and is just so gleeful about what she could have planned and I love it.
• Well, Emily did give Treadwell a chance. She was so sure that he wouldn’t admit the truth that now I wonder what she would have done if he had. Would it have shaken her belief in the path she’s on?
• I actually really liked the scene between Jack and Amily. I haven’t really bought them as a pair, especially his attachment to her beyond his false belief that she is Amanda, but his speech to her about wishing he was more like her was lovely and I completely believed he was sincere. It was a sweet scene.
• “You’re going to watch me turn five hundred into five thousand.” – Jack. I was loving the scene and then he said this and – meh. So they’re going gambling at Atlantic city, at her instigation, except no he’s going to gamble and she’s going to be his arm candy because that’s what women do! ... Okay, I know that’s not how he meant it but, damn, that really annoys me.
• In a way Treadwell was the worst of them. The fact that it was him – his book – that convinced young Amanda that her dad was guilty (and after giving her hope that she could help save him) is horrible. Emily burning down Treadwell’s house, and his manuscript, seems fair to me. He built all of it on lies that cost her father his life and ruined hers so it seems pretty appropriate.
• Did Emily just frame Amily for burning down Treadwell’s house? Between the confrontation and the lighter it appears so. I realise that Amily is kind of a loose cannon but she’s also someone that knows Emily’s secrets and is mostly on her side. In fact she’s someone who is very attached to Emily and is willing to go to great lengths for her. Setting Amily up to be arrested and in way that could lead back to her seems like something that can and will easily blow up in Emily’s face. If Amily believes that Emily set her up to go to jail what’s to stop her from turning against Emily? I really don’t think Amily would be a good person to have against her. What happened to keeping her hands clean by getting Victoria to do her dirty work for her?
Plus I admit I really want them to build a real friendship in some way (even though I realise that’s very unlikely to happen.)
• “Bad girl.” ♥ I loved Nolan’s smile. I am really glad that he reacted with his usual awe/glee at her scheming/plot instead of being upset about her committing arson. So murder and attacking people is bad but arson is fine. Good to know.
• So Charlotte is David’s daughter, or at least he thought so. I’ve read speculation about that. I think it could go either way but mostly I’m interested to see how Emily reacts to this.
• If Charlotte really is David’s daughter, and Victoria knows/believes it, it makes her behaviour towards Charlotte have whole new layers. I mean Victoria really seemed to love David and yet Daniel is the one she favours. Is it because Charlotte reminds Victoria of David and what she did to him?
