Fringe 4x08 & 4x09 Thoughts

iaria4x08 ‘Back to Where You’ve Never Been’
A list of what I liked:
• I’m so happy to see the Red Universe again.
• All the Walternate/Peter scenes. I loved Peter getting to see another side of Walternate. I wonder if this might even be leading to some Walternate/Peter bonding?
• Walternate not being the bad guy and getting further dimension was wonderful. This is a direction I’ve hoped the show would go in though granted this is Amber!Walternate.
• I love the reveal that Red Broyles is a shape-shifter. Even though I love Red Broyles it bugged me wondering why in the amber!timeline he survived and this makes sense to me.
• The Peter/Elizabeth scenes were so wonderful. I love that she recognised him. I really just wanted him to hug her and call her mom.
• I miss Charlie.
• "It'll cut you in half. I killed a guy like that once." – Peter. LOL. Poor Lincoln. Also good foreshadowing show.
• Lincoln’s shock at seeing the twin towers was a subtle and well done moment.
4x09 ‘Enemy of My Enemy’
• No, Nina! Damn. I was hoping so much that there was some ‘good’ explanation for Nina’s actions at the end of 4x07 but it looks like she’s a bad guy which makes me all sad. Mostly because it’s going to break Olivia’s heart. Oh, Olivia.
• Is Nina Jones’s partner or is she a shape-shifter? If they really are evil/going to use Olivia for some terrible reason I hope for the latter for Olivia’s sake. Her former guardian and mentor being murdered and a doppelganger taking her place and Olivia never having noticed is horrible but someone she loved and trusted betraying her is worse.
• What are Jones and Nina up to? I wonder if it could be possible that they’re not really ‘evil’? Maybe they’re trying to do something good like separate the universes again or something?
• Does this mean that the two amber universes are finally going to be working together? Because yes! I want!
• The final Walter/Peter scene made me a little teary-eyed. "I just spent the last several days with the other Walter and I was very surprised to learn that he was not the man I thought he was. But I am not at all surprised to learn that you are." Sniff.
• The Walternate/Elizabeth scene was wonderful and it was great seeing Walternate so sincerely vulnerable. The Walter/Elizabeth scenes meanwhile were brilliant and moving. Elizabeth is amazing.
• “I lost a partner.” – Lincoln
“I lost a universe!” – Peter
Okay fine. Peter wins. Though I'm still not sold on amber!verse being a completely different universe.
• I like how Peter not being a part of the amber!verse could work in everyone favour and be an asset. This is one reason for Peter being ‘special’ that I can get behind.
• I liked the little exchange between blue Olivia and blue Astrid where I really got the sense, again, that they're friends as much as they’re colleagues and I love that. We need more of them, and of Astrid who there’s been far too little of lately.
• The exchange between Peter and Red Astrid was nice. I loved how he talked to her and his expression was very... fond. It was sweet. Also there was the moment later on where he casually puts a hand on her arm that I found strangely sweet as well.
• This is two episodes now that have been very Peter focused and I like Peter a lot and I enjoyed these episodes but they had one big problem: not enough Olivia! This show is best when it is Olivia focused and with her as the centre of the story and I’m hoping the next episode will go more in that direction.
