Episode 23

+ I enjoyed Chae-kyung/Shin. I knew if they simply talked to each other and were clear about their true feelings everything would come together. Kind of annoyed this didn't happen a couple episodes ago. Still the scene where she confesses her love and he asks her to stay was great. I loved them lying down together afterwards, Chae-kyung on top of him, happily discussing their future. They were cute on their date in the city and it was nice to see them having fun together even if it makes no sense that they weren't immediately discovered (especially if everything is as big a scandal as we're being told.)

+ I loved their kiss. Wow. I was totally expecting a pressed-together-lips kdrama kiss and instead we a 25 second (!) passionate little make-out. They really went for it and it was great. It did make the weirdness of their attempt to kiss later in the episode weirder.

+ "When I met the crown princess I started dreaming again." Awww! This is the sort of thing Shin should have been saying all along, especially to Chae-kyung.

+ I don't really understand why they decided to send Chae-kyung away. They all agree that they need to do it for the good of the Monarchy but why? Hwa-young says they're scapegoating her - for all the recent rumours and drama? I don't get how this would work or even help the situation at all. The crown prince is suspected of arson and his wife abandons him? Oh, yeah, that's a good sign!

+ I appreciated Shin's friends offering their support (along with Chae-kyung's three as always) and friendship to Chae-kyung.

+ "Mom. Shin isn't that emotional." - Yul. LOL. I just found that hilarious. Shin's greatest defence - he's an Ice Prince.

+ I really appreciated the Queen Mother comforting Yul. It's about time someone did.

+ I wish we'd had more of the maids/Lady Choi. I wanted them reacting to Chae-kyung's new better relationship with Shin and her being sent away.

Episode 24

+ The show randomly adding some angst in at the very end with Shin being uncertain if Chae-kyung still loved him now that he wasn't crown prince and then her asking for a day to think about his proposal was ridiculous and unnecessary. I was very 'enough already' about it,

But I did love him proposing to her with his grandparents rings and them getting married again but this time as a couple in love.

+ Hye-myung becoming Queen came out of nowhere but actually I think it was a perfect solution. I think based on what we saw of her she'd make a good ruler. I do wish we'd seen more of her.

+ I love that Lady Choi moved to Macao with Chae-kyung.

+ I love that Shin gave Chae-kyung Alfred to take with her.

+ The Queen Mother becoming a goodwill ambassador was great.

+ Shin said a couple really romantic and sweet things, him telling Chae-kyung "You're so stunning I can't even look at you." and "You're the most brilliant person I've ever met in my life." were lovely.

+ I really liked the Queen opening up to Chae-kyung. I liked her confession of feeling envious and that she wished looking back that she had stayed true to herself when she became Crown Princess like Chae-kyung has. I loved her asking Chae-kyung to call her mother. I wish this scene had happened earlier.

+ I loved the maids eating with Chae-kyung and her family during their goodbye dinner.

+ Yul giving a mini-press conference to throw himself on the sword and take the blame was very dramatic. It makes sense that he would protect his mom to the end and this was a very effective way to stop her scheming but it still made me sigh. She should have been revealed for who she is and I feel bad that he shouldered the blame.

+ I was hoping for Yul to break away from his toxic mom and perhaps find happiness in the palace so his ending - eh. I appreciate that she apologised to him and sought his forgiveness. Perhaps without the palace to strive for she will become a less jealous and bitter person. I hope so for Yul's sake.

+ Yul finally accepting that he and Chae-kyung were never meant to be is good for him moving forward but also really not the appropriate response to the reporter's question about their relationship. Just say you're friends!

+ I'm glad that Shin and Yul made peace, of a sorts, and while I'm sad that they hadn't spoken again by the end it made sense. I am glad that Chae-kyung and Yul were keeping in touch so maybe one day.

+ It was nice to see the family happy at Shin being cleared of charges but it was strange that there was no worry or hand-wringing over it apparently being Yul behind it all. There was no mention of Yul or scenes with him at all. It was weird.

+ I think it's very possible that Yul was lonelier than Shin. Shin at least had his friends and Hyo-rin and ever loyal Officer Kong, Yul only had his manipulative mother.

+ I'm disappointed and annoyed that the King's previous affair never came out and that we didn't ever get Shin confronting him with the knowledge. I liked his regret about not being there for Shin, and for not ever doing anything to help Shin or Chae-kyung. But him taking responsibility for everything at the end and resigning felt too easy considering all his crap this series.

+ The cut from the police interviewing Lady Kwak (?) and going 'so the crown prince is being framed' to them talking to the crown prince about Lady Suh and going 'the funds point to you, #1 suspect' was very ?????

I loved it a little less than I did the first time I watched and I think it was too long and the angstiness drawn out too much but overall I enjoyed it and I'm glad I decided to rewatch and finally finish the series.
