Ready or Not
Sep. 19th, 2020 10:16 pmReally enjoyed that. Fun movie with a lot of dark humour.
+ Grace and her many 'wtf' and 'fuck this shit' reactions to everything happening around her were amazing. She ended up being a very relatable protagonist.
+ I loved Daniel and him being a sort of secondary protagonist and his angst and self-loathing.
+ I loved Daniel and Grace. I loved him helping her even as he refused to to help her (slowly counting to ten), how she kept trying to get to him and that in the end he sided with helping her escape. They were great.
+ I found it a little weird that it felt like Alex turning against Grace came off more because he knew she'd leave him in the end and not because she killed (he thought) both Daniel and Becky. Considering that Daniel was Alex's favourite family member and their closeness that really should have been a bigger thing and it's basically not mentioned in the following Alex/Grace confrontation it felt off.
+ I liked that Alex not telling Grace the truth beforehand, and Daniel having told Charity, shows what choices they'll make in the end.
+ I'm amused that the family ended up being rather hapless and the butler became Grace's biggest threat.
+ Emilie was a lot of fun. Her accidentally killing two of the maids was some great dark humour and I loved her taking drugs and pep-talking herself in the mirror.
+ I wish we'd learned more about Charity. Her being one of the people most willing to murder and the implication of her terrible dark past just made me really want to know more about her.
+ I am so curious about why Daniel married Charity in the first place. He hates the family and what they do, so why even bring anyone into it? Was he pressured into marrying by the family? It's clear that he doesn't really care about Charity, and that's why he was willing to marry her, but did their relationship start that way?
